JAN LYNN ARMSTRONG
Jan Lynn Armstrong
Born May 22, 1944 to Glenn Armstrong and Mary Alexander Armstrong in Sherman, Texas. He grew up in Luella, Texas and attended Tom Bean schools, graduating from Tom Bean High School. Jan worked at the Texas Highway Department, Sherman Auto Parts Store and Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads as a carman. He retired from the railroad after more than 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Meadowbrook Care Center and Homestead of McKinney as a maintenance man where he was loved by both the residents and the staff.
Jan was the best repair man around and if it could be fixed he fixed it!
Jan married Barbara Bernard Armstrong in Sherman, TX where they made their home for many years before moving to Tom Bean where they lived the last 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Wayne Armstrong, his parents, Glenn and Mary Armstrong, and his Father and Mother-in-law, Ralph and Thelma Bernard, and Sister-in-law, Ila Smith.
Jan is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter, Ila Rigdon and husband Jeff of Sherman, son Justin Goldston and wife Andi, of Dallas, granddaughter Erika Goodwin and husband, Chaz of Pottsboro, grandson, Taylor Rigdon and wife, Courtney, of Denison, grandson Logan Rigdon and wife Madalyn of Holly Springs, North Carolina, grandson Chase Armstrong of Pottsboro, and grandsons Ford and Rand Goldston of Dallas, Great-grandsons Jackson, Will, and Knox Rigdon, and Parker Hunnycutt. Great-granddaughters Skilar, Eloise, and Kit Rigdon, Peyton Estrada, and Avereigh, Harper, and Whitley Goodwin. He is also survived by sisters Cathy Armstrong, Luella, Tx, Glenda Huff and husband Roger, San Antonio Tx, Laurie Hash and husband Bob, Luella, Tx. Sheila Lyons and husband Jeff of Sherman, Brother and Sister-in-law Robert and Linda Bernard, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Luella First Baptist Church, Burial will follow at the Holloway Cemetery in Luella.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons Taylor Rigdon and Logan Rigdon, Chase Armstrong, and Chaz Goodwin, Nephews, Christopher Huff, and Nick Lucia.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jackson Rigdon, William Rigdon, Knox Rigdon, Ford Goldston and Rand Goldston.
Jan's pride and joy was his family who he loved dearly.
His greatest joy was playing with his great-grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Jan will be missed so much by all.
