Patsy Franks Obituary

SHERMAN - Patsy June (Franklin) Franks was born April 20, 1941, in Sherman, Texas to E.O. "Bill" Franklin and Jewel (Renfro) Franklin and went to be in the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, from her home at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Mrs. Franks was a lifetime resident of Sherman. She married Charles Leon Franks on January 19, 1957, in Durant, Okla. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 2009. Mrs. Franks worked for Robert, Sanford, and Taylor Wholesale Co. for 15 years and then worked for the Herald Democrat as a camera operator for 19 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a 4-H leader at one time and enjoyed taking her children to play days and rodeos. She and her family enjoyed going to the mountains in Colorado camping and snow skiing. She enjoyed the outdoors being at the lake on the boat and tubing on the water. Her children were her greatest love and she had a passion for her many animals taking care of them. Mrs. Franks became a huge fan of NASCAR this past year watching Matt Kenseth on television. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Franks was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Eva Janet Franklin, and brother Billy Joe Franklin.

Survivors include her loving family; son, Charles Ray Franks and wife Cathie of Howe; daughters, Debbie Polonchak of Howe, Cheryl Keeling and James Calhoun of Sherman; sister, Leota Huckabee and husband Lloyd of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Kim Johnson of Denison; grandchildren, Racheal Sedmack and husband Joey of Howe, Charles William Franks and wife Jessica of Tom Bean, Michael Polonchak of Denison, Travis Keeling of Durant, Okla., Jesse Franks of Howe, Jesseca Franks and Aaron Alexander of Howe, Matty Polonchak of Howe, Brock Taylor of Denison, Chris Griffin of Howe, Alyssa Hutson and husband Jarrod of Little Elm, Jason and Patti Tumlinson of Denison; great-grandchildren, Ayla Pierson Franks of Howe, Michael Taylor Franks of Howe, Heath Ryan Franks of Howe, and Chase Alexander Tumlinson of Denison, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Celebration of Mrs. Franks' life will be 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Southside Baptist Church in Denison with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman with Jim Ferguson, Jason Tumlinson, Brock Taylor, Joseph Sedmack, Aaron Alexander, and James Calhoun serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 -6 p.m., at the funeral home.

The entire Franks family wish to extend a special thank you to JoAnn, Jim, and Carol of Grace Home Hospice for the special care and support during this time.

For her love for animals, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Franks' honor to the SPCA of Texas 2400 Lone Star Dr. Dallas, TX 75212.
