Ronald Lewis Lemons
Ronald Lewis Lemons passed away on April 2, 2021 at the Clyde Cosper Texas Veterans Home where he was a resident for the last couple of years. Ron was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky on May 6, 1947 to the parents of Aubrey E. Lemons and Junita Ruth Curtis. He grew up in Cynthiana and was very close to his grandmother and cousins. His father passed when he was thirteen and his mother married Charles H Oakley Sr. They moved from Kentucky to Grand Rapids Michigan in 1965 when Ron was in high school.
Ron enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of eighteen, proudly serving his country including a yearlong deployment in South Vietnam under the 635 Combat Support Group of the Pacific Command. Ron was Awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After being honorably discharged, Ron settled in Northern California marrying his wife Patricia McKenzie in 1975. Ron leveraged his unique ability to fix almost anything and became a Master Service Technician for a local Chevrolet dealer. In addition to his full-time position, he also owned and operated Ron & Pats Auto Body Shop. Through his marriage with Pat, he helped raise two children (Michael & DeeDee) along with two granddaughters (Cassie & Michelle). Just a few years ago he was also blessed with a great granddaughter (Hailey). Ron loved to play golf and frequently would accumulate his entire work vacation and spend the summer in Sherman, Texas playing golf every day at Woodland Country Club. He especially loved to play in the four-ball scramble tournaments with his mother and brother as teammates.
In 2015, Ron moved to Sherman, Texas. He is proceeded in death by his father Aubrey Lemons, mother Junita Oakley and sister Lorna Dale Drake. He leaves behind his wife Patricia Lemons (Antioch, CA), brother Charles Oakley Jr. (Phoenix, AZ) nephews Joshua Oakley (Aubrey, TX), Nicholas Oakley (Phoenix, AZ), nieces Haleigh Beth Sowerby (Pagosa Springs, CO) Emily Linke (Dallas, TX) and great-niece Savannah Oakley (Sherman, TX).
Ron will be laid to rest at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park in the Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum. The register book can be signed online at
