Vicki Lynn Bowen

1951 - 2016

VAN ALSTYNE - Vicki Lynn Bowen left this earth and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 23, 2016.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Joe Langley will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 28 at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.

Vicki was born on December 4, 1951 in Seymour, Texas to Charles and Wanda (Sprowls) Hix. She married Keith W. Bowen on December 28, 1974. Graduates of East Texas State University, she and Keith started their family in 1976. After living in Red Oak, Texas for many years, Keith and Vicki moved to Van Alstyne in 1999 so they could be closer to her Mother and Daddy. Vicki was a proud Texan and an avid reader. She used her love of books for God's glory, opening libraries at four different churches, including Elmont Baptist Church, where she was a member. She dedicated her life to serving her husband, whom she loved very much, her children and grandchildren, and all of her family and friends. She touched the lives of many, and her friends and family treasured her servant's heart, her selflessness, her green thumb, her knowledge of the Bible, and her love of her Heavenly Father.

Vicki is survived by Keith, her husband of 41 years; her son, James (Jay) W. Bowen and wife Elys, her daughter Carrie L. Simmering and husband Daniel, and son Jarod K. Bowen; four grandchildren, Jackson Wade, Austin James, Luke Stephen, and Emily Sophia; her father, Charles C. Hix; and two brothers, Charles Hix, Jr. and Royce Hix. She was preceded in death by her mother.
