WILLIE LEE WATKINS (ROBERSON)
Willie Lee Watkins (Roberson) was born on ·March 10, 1941, in Paris, TX. Willie passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, surrounded by her family who loved and adored her. Willie was a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, a greatgrandmother, and a friend to all she knew. She also had great great grandkids as well. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion impacting the lives of her family and loved one for years to come.
Willie Lee was born to the parents of Beauty B. Roberson and Allen Roberson. She attended school in Lamar Country and was the third child out of nine children. She learned to cook at 6 years old, standing on a crate box to reach the stove, while in the kitchen with her mother. As she grew, Willie adapted in her sister role and moved to assuming a role as a second mother for her younger siblings. Cooking for family and friends became her symbol of love which continued until her death. Willie Lee accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant. She was a true-believer in Christ and thanked God daily. She believed that God loved her, and he would never leave nor forsake her. God's word remains truthful. Willie Lee attended Church of Christ in Pottsboro, TX under the leadership of Rev Kevin Shimp. Prior to her parents' death she also frequently fellowshipped at Palestine Baptist Church in Novice, TX.
Willie was a hard and dedicated worker. In her lifetime, she held multiple occupations. She has worked as a housekeeper, a caterer and a licensed beautician. She worked for Texas Instruments a total of 24 years starting the career in Lubbock, TX and continuing it after transferring to Sherman and later in life she meet her late husband and later on in life they got a divorced.
Willie Lee is preceded in death parents Allen and Beauty Bee Roberson of Paris, TX, one son, William Floyd Bills, one sister, Lillie Faye Dixon (Roberson) and four brothers, Lenzel Roberson, Charles Roberson, Paul Roberson, and Dewayne Roberson.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Shelia Bills of Denison, TX, one sister Maria Roberson of Sherman, TX, two brothers, Gene Roberson (Deborah) of Paris, TX and Jimmy Roberson of Houston, 4 grandchildren Lakisha, Lakendra, Lakaedra of Lubbock, TX, William Jr of Copper Cove, TX, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Palestine Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Friday, March 7th from 4 PM to 5:00 PM in Maxey Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow to Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.
