Rebecca (Becky) Jones Hobson, 61, passed away October 31st in Edmonds, Washington, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Becky was a true survivor in life, facing every challenge with strength, courage and positivity. She bravely fought breast cancer, first diagnosed in her early thirties, and later returning as metastatic breast cancer 9 years ago. Becky inspired everyone around her, leaving many in awe of her unwavering spirit and never giving up hope attitude. When conventional treatments were no longer effective, Becky willingly participated in clinical trials, all in the hope of gaining more time in life while advancing science and finding a cure. Becky loved life, loved Alyssa and loved Greg with all she had.
Being an amazing mother was Becky's greatest joy. She raised Alyssa with passion and energy, always striving for the best for her. Becky was incredibly proud of Alyssa and all she has become. Her husband, Greg, was her steadfast partner, supporting one another through life's fun adventures and challenges. Greg and Alyssa provided her with unwavering love and care ensuring she was comfortable and taken care of. Family traditions were something Becky treasured and built into her life. Every year, Becky and her brother Brock would make an annual trip to Kalaloch, WA in memoriam of their mother, Shirley. Time with her brother was something she looked forward to. Becky loved traveling and enjoyed Maui and Chelan and had fun family times on many trips. One of Becky’s goals was to travel to all 50 US states, which she achieved in 2021 and always had family or friends traveling along with her. Becky was born in Seattle, Washington, moved to Lynnwood, Washington and graduated from Lynnwood High School. She spent most of her career with Hillstrom State Farm Insurance. Wherever Becky lived she turned the space into an oasis open to all. In 2020, she and Greg embarked on a new adventure by purchasing a home in Chelan, WA, where they eventually moved full-time. You would often find Becky in her yard, always working on her vegetables, flowers, and bird feeders which brought her peace. She kept us supplied with her jams and canned fruit, a skill she learned from her Nana. Becky is survived by her husband Greg, daughter Alyssa Asmussen, and partner (Cole); brother Brock (Yvette) Jones; Aunt and Uncle Shelley & Richard Rondeau; Aunt Adele (Jack) Walimaki; and a host of loving cousins and in-laws. Becky cultivated many life-long friendships who spent many days and weekends by her side supporting her. She was loved by many in her ‘Team Becky’ Facebook group who gave her strength and support over the years. Becky inspired many throughout her journey with her positive attitude. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Brock Parkhurst; grandparents, Vallie and Hazel Brock; and father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Clementine Hobson. May you rest in eternal peace sweet Becky.
A special thank you to Becky’s cousin, Kirsten, and her husband, Matt Schwab, for generously providing Becky with a place to live out her final days near loving family and friends. In memory of Becky and in lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor her with a contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 20th, at Thomas Family Farms (Crossroads): 9010 Marsh Rd. Snohomish, WA 98296, beginning at 1pm.
