Catherine Bunker Obituary

Catherine (Bahl) Bunker passed away peacefully on September 5, 2013, in Edmonds, Washington, one day short of her 91st birthday. She was born in Nome, Alaska on September 6, 1922 to Max and Maria (Sataroff) Gottschalk. Catherine married Albert Bahl in 1938 in Unalakleet, Alaska and they raised their six children in Marshall, Alaska, Edmonds and Stanwood, Washington. After moving to Washington, in addition to raising her children, Catherine worked as a cook for the Washington State Ferry System and at various other restaurants. She married Robert Bunker in 1981 and they retired to Mineral, Washington. Catherine enjoyed dancing, beach combing, oil painting, knitting, sewing, playing pool, gardening and was an excellent homemaker. Catherine was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Bahl and Robert Bunker; son, Gerald Bahl; and grandson, Scott Bahl. She is survived by her children, Jeanne Parken of Shoreline, WA, Terry (Sue) Bahl of Port Angeles, WA, Richard Bahl of Spokane, WA Albert Jr. (Teri) of Edmonds, WA, and David Bahl of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and special nieces, Glenda Williams, Roylene Gottschalk, Judy Koski and Janet Koski. Catherine's bubbly personality, warm smile and special hugs will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to Maria Fedorean of Helen's Adult Family Home, Dr. Khanh Nguyen and the staff of Edmonds Swedish Hospital and Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County for the wonderful care Catherine received. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds Lutheran Church, 23525 84th Avenue West, Edmonds, WA 98026. Remembrances in Catherine's name may be made to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County, or to your favorite charity.
