Clyde Albert "Ole" Nordgren Sr.&bb& Clyde Albert "Ole" Nordgren Sr. April 19, 1919 - Sept. 16, 2000. Son of Axel and Ingrid Nordgren ( deceased ) immigrants from Sweden, brother of Herbert G. Nordgren ( deceased ), beloved husband of Marjorie Nordgren for 52 years; Clyde was a Christian, church deacon and Little League basesball coach. He always gave unselfishly of himself to others.&pe&A father figure to all, "Papa" provided wisdom, support, and faith to family and friends: daughter Fran Whitefield and husband Tony ( deceased ), son Clyde Jr. and wife Michele, granddaughter Martie French and husband Michael, granddaughter Becky Whitefield, grandsons Kyle Axel Nordgren and Lars Patrick Nordgren, great granddaughters Brittany and Brianna French.&pe&Survivors include sister-in-law Rosemary Nordgren of Oceanside, CA. and her children Martha, Randy, Steve, and Herbert Eugene; brother-in-law Robert M. Upton, Eileen Upton and their children Pat, Roxanne, and Peggy; cousins Nancy Bystrom Anderson and Patsy Bystrom Hunt. His aunt, Greta Bystrom Olson, and cousin, Marie Bystrom, and niece Christina Nordgren, preceded him in death.&pe&A life long resident of Everett, "Ole" graduated from Everett High School in 1937 where he lettered in football. He attended Linfield College in Oregon until he left school to serve his country. As a U.S. Infantry captain during the 1944 Normandy invasion of France, Clyde was seriously wounded in combat, necessitating a year long hospital recuperation. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his courage under fire.&pe&Clyde returned home to serve as superintendent of Walton's Lumber Company, then later as manager for Eclipse Lumber Company and finally as superintendent for Weyerhauser of North Bend. With the demise of the lumber industry he changed careers, briefly selling life insurance prior to becoming a regional office manager for Grolier Incorporated. In 1970 he was honored as Manager of the Year for his outstanding performance. &pe&An avid sports fan, Clyde regularily viewed the games of his grandchildren. He attended all of the home Everett High School football games of his son-in-law, the late Tony Whitefield, during Tony's 16 year tenure as EHS coach. Due to declining health "Ole" was unable to continue his membership in several clubs and local service organizations: VASA, American Legion, Elks, Everett Yacht Club and the V.F.W. He maintained membership in a car enthusiasts' club and in the Disabled American Veterans.&pe&The family expresses their deep appreciation to the employees of Providence Hospital, Madeline Villa and Providence Hospice for their loving care and support.
