Darrell Gaffney Obituary

Darrell Thomas Gaffney, 80, passed away September 1, 2013, in Omak, Washington. He was born to Thomas and Florence Gaffney on January 10, 1933 in Seattle, Washington. Darrell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cornelia in 2009. He attended Marymount Military Academy in Spanaway and Seattle Preparatory School. He joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Korean War. He married Cornelia Ann Roche, August 1955 in Seattle. He was a dedicated father who raised his eight children and taught them the love of the Pacific Northwest and great outdoors. His family was originally from Scandinavia (Borgeson) and Ireland (Gaffney) and was one of the early settlers in Washington in the late 1880s. He is survived by his children, Mark Gaffney, Kristine Gaffney, Brian Gaffney, Jennifer Gaffney Countryman, Teresa Goar, Elaine Gorsegner, Gretchen Gaffney Khdair, and Doreen Gaffney. Funeral services with honorable military recognition were held September 9.

I wanted to give my friend Brian Gaffney my sympathy. I wasn't aware of your father's passing at the time and apologize for being so late. I still remember your dad telling us colorful stories. He was quite a character. I hope you and your family are well.
