Daryl Axelson Obituary

Daryl Axelson December 8, 1950 - June 1, 2023 Daryl Axelson, 72, of Shelton, WA (formerly of Monroe, WA), passed away the morning of June 1, 2023 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle Washington. Daryl fought very hard to win his battle with pancreatic Cancer and we are extremely proud of all the effort he gave in trying to beat this awful disease.

At the time of his passing, Daryl was surrounded by his two daughters, Angela Axelson-Terry and Amber Preyer, along with his wife, Deborah Axelson.

Daryl served four years in the Navy where he was stationed on Whidbey Island. Following his Naval service, Daryl had a very successful career at Boeing where he worked within the AOG department for 38 years and retired at the age of 57.

Daryl loved so many things and was just a lover of life and lived it to the fullest. But, most of all, he loved to travel!

He was the most amazing father to his two daughters, Angela and Amber as well as a great husband to his wife, Deborah. He was also an incredible brother to his two sisters and brother, Lana, Debbie, and Curt. He went above and beyond for those he loved.

Daryl will forever be loved and missed deeply by those who knew him, may he Rest In Peace.

Please join us in honoring him at Tahoma National Cemetery: 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA, 98042 for a Military Honors salute on July 12, 2023 at 11:30am.

I am so sorry to hear of Daryl passing. I knew him from our Navy days at Whidbey Island and hadn´t been in touch since then. I searched for him on Facebook Veteran Buddy finder and sad to hear what they had to say. We had a good time and he always had a positive attitude, just wish I could have touched base with him one more time. God bless you all.

So sad to read about Daryl passing. To Daryl's family, Daryl was one heck of a great person. He was professional, Polite, courteous and caring with all of this who had the pleasure of working with him. I had the pleasure of meeting with and working with Daryl way back in the early 80's at Boeing. fI was struck by what a good person he was, all the time. Daryl will be missed. My condolences to the family. Daryl was a great guy and he was one of the best AOG Team Captains "Supervisors" there was. He was always guiding and and leading in a professional manner. He was considerate and always concerned about others. He helped me out in my career at Boeing and AOG. Later in our careers we were both AOG Team Captains and became good friends. I will miss him very much. What a good man. I will always be thankful for his friendship and guidance. Rest in Peace Daryl. Mike Murphy.
