David Hagglund Obituary

David passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2013 in Lake Stevens, WA. He was born on July 12, 1961 in Everett to Donald and Patricia Hagglund. The family lived in Lake Stevens, where David grew to be a source of laughter and love. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mabel Tucker and his maternal grandfather, George Tucker. He was also preceded by his paternal grandmother, Frances Hagglund and paternal grandfather, Roy S. Hagglund. David is survived by his parents, Don and Pat; wife, Ngon C. Nguyen (Lai); seven year old daughter, Melissa; sister, Wendy Locke (Greg); brother, Daniel Hagglund (Annette); great uncle, Herman Hagglund (Ann); aunt, Helen Griggs (Orlin); niece, Ginger Reid (Justin); and numerous cousins. David graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1980 and joined the US Marine Corps shortly thereafter. He served the Marine Corps as a military policeman. After serving, he was employed by the Washington State Dept. of Transportation where he ultimately became a transportation engineer, inspecting the construction of highways and bridges. In his teen years, David loved to water ski on Lake Stevens. Later he became an avid golfer, attaining a competitive and winning degree of success. He was also a spirited fan of professional hockey. He and his family enjoyed vacationing (and golfing) in Hawaii and the Palm Springs, CA area. He also thoroughly enjoyed the open road on his Harley Davidson to Sturgis, SD. David was a joy to be with. His keen sense of humor often brought people from chuckles to giggles to outright laughter. He was an excellent father, devoted to his wife and daughter. His funeral will be held on December 3, 2013, 1 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett. A public viewing will be available from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013. Before Interment, David will be honored by a brief military ceremony.

My deepest condolences to the families. Dave and I grew up together as we lived nest door to each other through our years of growing up. We both graduated from Lake Stevens High in 1980, and met at the last couple of reunions. He will be remembered with love and dearly missed.

I met Dave several years ago. I always remember the night I met him because my sister and I were at a party and didn't know anyone yet..we kept hearing meowing noises and wondered where the cat was..we finally figured out who was making these noises..it was Dave...since then, I always loved his sense of humor. He was a good friend, and my husband was his best man when he got married. Seeing him as a husband and father was so awesome. Loosing him has been hard to take. I try to remember the good things because I know that is how he would want things. His wife and daughter and family are in our prayers. I feel so lucky to have known Dave, for he was one of a kind.
