David Messmer Obituary

David R. Messmer

David R. Messmer, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away at home January 16, 2009, one week after his 59th birthday, of an awful liver/stomach cancer in Lake Goodwin, WA. He was born to Robert and Margaret Messmer January 9, 1950 in Renton, WA. David graduated from Issaquah High School in 1968 and attended Green River Community College. He spent his career in sales, most recently with Penguin Windows Home Improvement Company as the installation manager. David enjoyed golfing, bird and elk hunting, taking vacations in the sun with family. He was a renown camp chef and his hunting buddies will miss his menu planning, shopping and gourmet elk camp cooking.
Surviving David is his loving wife of 20 years, Lori Messmer, of Lake Goodwin; son, Uryah Messmer (Krista Moser), of Kirkland, WA; daughter, Asia Messmer (Justin Williams), of Silvana, WA; siblings, Steve (Mary) Messmer, of Kirkland, Ann (Paul) Nichols, of Coulee City, WA, and Sheryl (Rick) Knights, of Fall City, WA; many nieces and nephews, numerous friends; all the staff at Penguin Windows, who were also part of his "family"; and missed most by his beloved pets, Breyer, Blue and Billy Bob.
Special thanks to Bonnie Giebel and Christine Byle who have supported David, Lori, Ryah and Asia daily through his cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Lake Goodwin Community Club House, 17323 – 42nd Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA.

Uryah,
I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your father. The few times I was around him either at CWU or Statewide he always brightened the room. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

As i try to figure out the right words to express my feelings for the loss of Dave one word keeps popping up in my head "CLASS"!!! Dave was a true class act from the first time i met him and his lovely wife Lori they made a great impression on myself and my wife, so much that one of the first questions my wife always asked me during a company event was"are the Messmer's going to be there" he always made me feel special and i was blessed to have known him! my trips to seattle certainly will not be the same without seeing him and his cool phrases like "hey man are we golfing this weekend or what" as he did with many people Dave left his mark on me and i was blessed to have known him for these past 3 years, the lucky ones are the ones that knew Dave longer than i, even if it was a day!!!

Lori, Ryah & Asia - Dave was such a great guy, we will miss him very much. He always had a smile and something good to say about all. His wicked sense of humor brings to mind many funny memories. He really had a knack for getting one over on you. He was a wonderful friend who we will dearly miss. Golfing just won't be the same without my buddy Dave. Our thoughts and sympathy are with you all.

Lori, Ryah, and Asia. I am stunned by this horrible news. Dave always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and a minute of his time to say hey. Please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences. Words cannot express my sadness for you all!

Lori and family,

I am fortunate enough to have spent 4 years as one of David's neighbors from across the power lines. Arriving to the farm as a 10 year old Seattle city slicker, David "converted me" to a Clearview country boy in no time. His companionship was like a brother to me in those years and I have never forgotten the value of our friendship. My family extends our condolences to you.

Shock and disbelief was my reaction when hearing of Dave's passing. I pray for your strength during this difficult time, and know your faith and family will provide the support you need.
