David Mickey Obituary

David Dominic Mickey
June 28, 1952-Feb. 12, 2012

After a very short battle with esophageal cancer, David is now in Heaven, leaving us peacefully early on February 12, 2012. He was born June 28, 1952 to Vincent and Stephanie Mickey in Cleveland, OH.
In 1968 they moved to Norwalk, CA where he met Pace, who was to become his life-long best friend.
Eventually, he met Pace's mother, Yvonne. They fell in love and have lived happily ever after....
And so he is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne, her sons, Pace (Diane), Phillip (Lauren), Peter (Carol) and Bill (Eileen), four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; also surviving him are his sisters, Jean Mickey and Nancy McMorrow; two nieces; two nephews; and a great niece; and great nephew; many aunts; uncles; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Mark and Daniel.
A lifelong car enthusiast, David raced his cherished "Cuda". His chosen profession, naturally, was auto technician. He wanted to be the best, so kept his certifications current as an ASE Certified Master Mechanic for well over 30 years. He worked for Midas and was loved by everyone there. "There is a hole left in our staff that will be impossible to fill," said Tim Grout, owner. "David always wanted to learn more".
David participated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church as Eucharistic Minister and also as Sacristan. He was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank and was always helping the Altar Society ladies in their endeavors, washing dishes for their breakfast and dinners, helping set up the tables and shelves for the Flea Market and actually helping with the items for Flea Market, taking care of the heavy items, etc. His greatest joy was helping at the Church.
There will be a Funeral Mass to celebrate David's life on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 12:00 noon at our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2617 Cedar St., Everett, WA 98201 prior to the Mass there will be a Rosary at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donation to St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank will be most appreciated, they can be sent to the Church.

Working with David(Dave) Mickey at Midas in Alderwood was a pleasure and I will miss his smile. Haven't seen him for a while but still remembering like it was yesterday! Glad to know Dave was close to the Lord and will find peace in Heaven until I meet him there one day. My condolences to the family and friends of Dave. Yvonne: Altho I'm too far away to attend Monday's service, you can be sure that I'll be thinking of you and everyone - while adjusting for the time difference.

God saw you were getting tired,
when a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, "come to me".
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest,
He only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain,
I could not wish you back again,
To suffer that again.
