David Young Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Benjamin Young, who lost his courageous battle with cancer on October 5, 2025.

David was born on November 28, 1954, to David and Margo Young. As a young man, he was a talented athlete and baseball player. David had an entrepreneurial spirit, taking on many different jobs throughout his life and developing a wide range of skills. He had a special talent for painting homes and businesses in Everett, leaving his mark on places like Arnie's and The Cook Book.

Throughout his career, he worked for several prominent Everett businesses, including Scott Paper, Boeing, and Dunn Lumber. He also spent a number of years in Alaska, working alongside Uncle Bob as a lineman, and later worked as a long-haul truck driver. David was a true jack-of-all-trades, he could learn, fix or build just about anything!

He is survived by his beloved sons, Jesse Young (Angie) and granddaughter Danika, and Jeffrey Young (Hanna); his cherished stepson Kenji Kobayashi (Crystal) and granddaughter Kimiko. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Jayne Puckett and Vicki Goverde, his aunts Roberta and Sally from Marysville and Cindi and Bob from Lake Havasu, Arizona. He also leaves behind many dear cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply.

David was preceded in death by his parents, David and Margo Young; his wife, Randi Young; and Mary Handy, mother of his youngest child, Jeffrey.

David will be remembered most for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the deep love he held for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Fred Hutch Cancer Care Center, in gratitude for the care and support he received during his illness.

So sad to hear of Dave's passing. First met him at Washington Grade School and lived a block away from his family when he lived at 17th and Colby.
Dave was always friendly and I enjoyed running in to him after our High School years.

David I can´t believe you are gone, I am going to miss you. I´ll always remember when we were young and you use to play crazy tricks on your sisters and my sister poke. You would watch us all at your parents house and scare the hell out of all of us. You would come and visit my mom every Friday afternoon with Jayne and my mom looked forward to seeing you every week. All 3 of you Jayne, Vick and you David were so good to her up until the day you left us. I am going to miss you always just as I miss aunt Margo and uncle Dave. You were such a great family. I love you all. Your cousin. Gale

Knew Dave since I was 13 years old. He helped me through so much as a teenager. He gave me protection and a place to sleep for a long time. Hugs when I was sad. Encouragement when I needed it. Even as an adult and once I became a mother he was so happy for me. He always hugged me with so much love. He was a great person. Hopefully he and my dad are hanging out wherever they are now.

Sad to read about David. Much too young but death doesn't select only old people. Our day will also come soon and we should be prepared because we only get one chance in life on earth, then we spend eternity in either heaven or hell.
Romans 10:9-13 is a good GPS for the end of our lives. Also John 3:16. My condolences to you all.

Living Nextdoor to sister Jayne, David would "drive by" each morning to join us in the back garden for coffee. And share stories and laugh. A kind gentle man, I will miss his friendship dearly. He fought a brave and courageous battle. God Bless you, David.

Best Dad ever, My dad was one of the most selfless and genuine people I´ve ever known. He always put everyone else before himself and could make anyone laugh, no matter the situation. I´m so grateful for the love, laughter, and strength he gave our family. I´ll miss him forever.
