Debra Duncan Obituary

Debra Duncan July 3, 1953 - December 23, 2022 Debbie Duncan (Stjern), of Lake Stevens Washington lost her brave battle with pancreatic cancer on December 23rd, 2022. Born in Everett to Sharon and Einar Stjern on 7-3-1953, Debbie grew up on Fobes Hill in Snohomish, she graduated from Snohomish High School. She then went on to earn her qualification as a medical assistant.

Debbie's great passion was always her family. While raising her two sons Chad and Wade, she met her neighbor Chris and his son Liam in 1994 after asking for a cup of sugar. They soon began gardening together, planting dahlias, geraniums, and roses. Debbie's love of gardening reflected her love of parenting through her great tenderness. Debbie and Chris were married, and Deb followed the progress of her three boys, watching over them with a soft hand and a strong spirit. Her natural ability to care for others, combined with her medical background gave her the affectionate nickname of "Doctor Deb", her family is blessed to have always been in her tender and protective care.

2001 brought the Duncan family to the house that would be Debbie's signature canvas. She was an expert in the art of creating a loving space, and her thoughtful homemaking ensured that all felt welcome in the house and gardens. In this home she would earn the cherished title of grandmother to first Chase (Chad and Ame's first son), then Maisie (Wade and Sabrina's daughter, and first little girl in the family), and finally Miles (Chad and Ame's second son). Debbie had "her babies" during the day for a number of years until they started school. Camping at Lake Connor Park was a favorite pastime which accomplished Debbie's primary goal of "keeping the cousins close".

Debbie is survived by her sister Sandy and her husband Bill, brother Mike and his wife Christy, husband Chris Duncan, and three sons & families, Chad & Ame with Chase & Miles, Wade & Sabrina with Maisie, Liam and his girlfriend Samantha.

When the gardens start blooming this spring, there will be a celebration of Debbie's life in May to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
