Dolores was born in Everett, Washington on October 15, 1933, the eldest daughter of Kenneth and Agnace Hyatt. She had younger sisters: Jeanette Bertrand and Caroline Martin. Delores passed away peacefully at home - at the age of 88 - on August 26, 2022 of cancer-related causes.
Dolores (Dee) attended Everett schools. She later married and had three daughters: Linda (Lyn) (1951), Donna (1952), and Audrey (1955).
In January 1959, a single Dolores was introduced to Lewis (Lou) Rasmussen by a mutual friend at a social function. They dated all spring and summer, and on August 28, 1959 they got married. In 1960, Lou adopted her three daughters. A son, Lewis Jr., arrived in 1963. While Lou worked for Pacific Grinding Wheel and later for the City of Marysville, Dee worked for GTE for many years, retiring when the company was sold. Lou was also a volunteer fireman for over 30 years. Lou and Dee had a cabin near Plain in the Cascade Mountains, near Lake Wenatchee. They spent a lot of their free time enjoying their wooded lot in both the summer and winter months. They also enjoyed visiting Denmark in 1968 and met Rasmussen cousins.
Sadly, Lou died of a heart attack while driving to Florida in February 1995. Their truck rolled one-and-a-half times and landed on its top and Dolores was seriously injured, breaking some bones in her neck. She later recovered from her injuries, after three surgeries and wearing a halo that held her neck and head in place for six months. Many family members, friends and neighbors aided her during this recovery period.
Dee continued to live at their Marysville home and since 1996 has been involved with the Marysville Police Department and the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department doing local community outreach work. She thoroughly enjoyed this work and just retired this past August.
Dolores was preceded by her parents (both 1998) and sister Carolyn (2018), daughter Lyn (2013) and son Lewis Jr (2012), Donna's daughter Shannon (1971-2007), and Audrey's son Seth (1980-2011).
Delores is survived by many family, including her sister Jeanette Bertrand, daughter Lyn's husband Ron Crete and their children Jessica and Zackery; daughter Donna and her husband David Brown; daughter Audrey and her husband Ralph Thomas and their daughter Jennifer and their grandson Seth; and Lewis Jr's children Brandon and Payton. Also many nieces and nephews from the greater Hyatt and Rasmussen families.
At her request, Dolores' ashes will be mixed with those of her late husband Lewis and scattered near their Plain cabin.
The family suggest donations in her name be given to the Marysville Fire Department or the Marysville Historical Society. The family wants to thank hospice care for their services.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Marysville Historical Society's museum, 6805 Armar Road, Marysville. Join the Rasmussen family for light refreshments afterwards on what would have been her 89th birthday.

I met Dolores through the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department. We patrolled together often. I made a pillow for Dolores to raise her up so she could see out of the patrol car. What a darling woman......

Aunt Dee and Uncle Lewis helped the Rasmussen family reconnect with its Danish roots. Thanks for linking us up! Our visits there and their visits here have been fun. After and long wait, Lewis and Dee are now together. Rest in peace.

We will always remember her warm smile and the way she cared about others. She joins the love of her life in heaven and I know I just saw Uncle Lewy smile.
