Donna Duwe Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left this world peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 92. Surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 1, 1933, on a small farm in South Dakota, Donna was the middle child of seven, a position that instilled in her a remarkable resilience and strength. Her family's journey took them from South Dakota to Idaho, and ultimately to Everett, Washington, where she graduated from Everett High School. These early years shaped her character, nurturing a spirit that would face life's challenges with courage and grace. After marrying Laurence G. (Sam) Duwe, she embraced motherhood and worked full-time as she and Sam raised their five children in Lake Stevens. Throughout her career in the title and escrow business, Donna became a trailblazer, breaking barriers as the first woman title officer in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, and later co-owning her own escrow company. Her leadership extended beyond her own business as she served as president of The National Association of Professional Mortgage Women.

Donna was not only a remarkable professional but also a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After retiring, she found joy as a "snowbird," splitting her time between the beauty of the San Juan Islands and the warmth of Palm Springs, California. Throughout her life, she faced adversity with a wonderful sense of humor, creating countless cherished memories with her family and friends. Her generous spirit will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Young and Mike; son, James Johnson; daughter, Jan McGregor and John; son, Daryl Duwe; and son, Daniel Duwe and Michael Lindsey. Donna's legacy of strength, love, courage, optimism and humor will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
