Doris Stockholm Obituary

Doris Carolyn Stockholm

Doris (Gabelein) Stockholm passed away peacefully on January 19, 2011 surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 9, 1930 at the family farm on Lone Lake on Whidbey Island, WA and spent her life on the Island.
Doris met her husband Norman in grade school; they were high school sweethearts and married on August 18, 1951. While her children were in school, she was a great stay-at-home mom and excelled at her tasks. She was more than at home in her kitchen where she could take any recipe, add a little of this and a little of that, and make it fantastic. She loved planting flowers and working in her garden. Grandma and Grandpa spent a lot of time with their grandchildren, taking them places, sharing experiences, and making memories that will last forever. Doris always had a smile and a calming disposition, welcoming all and making everyone feel a part of her family.
Doris is survived by her husband, Norman; her children, James and Linda (David Hendrickson); grandchildren, Heather Saxton (Chad), Rachel Soto (Mike), Ashley Stockholm, Marni Wilson (Sebastian) and Dale Hendrickson; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Dane Saxton, Madeline and Brandon Judy, Taylor Rowalt, Jacob Bauer and Isaac Soto; and countless friends.
Doris was greeted in heaven by her parents, Albert and Cora Gabelein; her sisters, Eileen, Alberta and Loretta; and her brother Raynard.
A celebration of Doris' life will be held at CMA Church of Langley, 6th and Cascade in Langley, WA on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Providence Hospital, Colby Campus, in Everett, WA.
