Dorothy Lucille Foxe

Dorothy was loved by everyone who knew her. Born in Mabton, Wash. on August 25, 1918 to George and Mildred Pierce. She passed away peacefully on March 2, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She grew up on a farm in the Sunnyside area of eastern Wash. and moved to Marysville with her parents and brother in the late 1930's. Her parents bought the Barrel Restaurant and while working there she met Don, the love of her life. They were married in August 1940, and enjoyed 55 wonderful years. Dorothy worked as a waitress at the original Village Café in Marysville for 25 years. Later she worked at the family owned hardware store, decorating the windows and managing the housewares section of Foxe Family Hardware. They enjoyed family holidays and parties, playing cards, and going on vacation trips with their friends. Dorothy loved all the holidays, especially Christmas. In recent years she "had so much fun" decorating her tree with nieces, Patty and Pam. Her close friends Sandy, Leona, and Darlene enjoyed many fun times playing pinochle and visiting. Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Don; brother, Les Pierce; her parents; niece, Leslie Pierce Meyer; and very special friend, Mary DeYoung She is survived by her three sons, Jerry (Dana), Ken (Vikki), and Bruce (Chris); grandchildren, Ron, Jay (Shirley), K.C. (Sherry), Kenda Kakalecik (Steve), Justin (Tammy), Tahasha, Veronika, Jessica, Jasmine, Jillian, Lisa Kruse (Murray), Debbie Driscoll (Jeremy) and David Thorne (Amy); great grandchildren, Jarrod, Nicole, Jacob, Janey, Bryhanna, Kylie and Tanner; great great grandchildren, Landon and Aubree; sister- in-law, Dorothy Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Special thanks to the staff at Mira Vista in Mount Vernon for the loving care these last few weeks and to Marilyn for her friendship and support to our family. Visitation is Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville with funeral services following on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 12:00 p.m.
