Dorothy Manwell Obituary

Dorothy Elaine Manwell

Dorothy Elaine Manwell, of Snohomish, WA, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 2, 2008. She was born on December 5, 1922, in Rutland, North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin O. and Ebba C. Hogenson; her brother, Lowell Hogenson; sisters, Lois Lanes and Betty Lou Smallwood; sister-in-law, Betty Hogenson; first husband, Warren Quick; grandson, Randy Nelson; and recently by her beloved daughter, Judy E. Nelson.
She is survived by her brother, Chuck Hogenson, of Anaconda, MT; and sister, Violette Lair, of Woodinville, WA. She will be missed sorely by her daughters, Linda Jean Quick, of Bothell, WA and Janis Lynn Quick-Granroth, of Vancouver, WA; and by her son, Dana John Manwell and his wife, Jill, of Snohomish, WA. Most of all she will be missed by her devoted husband, Lawrence R. Manwell, he has been her constant companion and caregiver for many years. The joy of her last years has been her grandchildren, Dana and Jill's three children, Ryker John, Ellee Marie and Sophia Grace. They lit up her face even in her grayest days. She loved all of her grandchildren, Laurie Whitehead, Stephen and Nyika Nelson, Shawn and Dean Schlaman, Leandra and Patrick Buchanan; and her great-grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Nelson, Kristopher and Nicholas Whitehead, Allysha Schlaman and Megan Schlaman.
Through the years, Dorothy enjoyed many activities: skating and skiing in Montana; taking the girls swimming at Green Lake and to Montana every summer; camping and Play Days with the horses when Dana was young; Dahlia Shows with Larry and always Scrabble and Crossword puzzles.
A Memorial Service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the home of Dana and Jill Manwell.
The family requests donations to North Pacific Hospice in lieu of flowers.

We were so sad to hear of your wife and mother's passing. Living right next door, I grew up with Dana and fondly remember spending time over at your house when we were young. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. The Hulse family.
