Dwight Miller Obituary

Dwight N. Miller Sr Nov. 4, 1952 – Oct. 5, 2018 Dwight was a wonderful giving man that was loved, will be missed, and will always be cherished. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Dwight was born on November 4, 1952, a twin child born first to Archie Jr. and Patricia Miller. He was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas until his father was transferred to Washington with the Boeing Company. He completed his high school education at Bothell High School and graduated in 1970. Later he went back and completed his four year B.S. degree at City University. He was an active member of DeMolay and worked his way up to master councilor at which time he met the love of his life. February of 1975 he married Anita Louise Stancil, and had two wonderful sons. Prior to getting his degree he was a cadet in the State Patrol, went to ITT Peterson school and graduated with a certificate in Information Technology. Dwight began his professional career at Boeing and retired at the age of 55 as an Industrial Engineering Director over the 747/767/777 programs. After retiring he worked in Charleston, SC as an executive consultant with Boeing and later Supplier Management at the Everett plant. He served on the UC Berkley Board and the Institute of Industrial Engineering Council. Devoted to his family, he felt that it was his most important work and that "no success in the world could compensate for a failure at home". When the boys were young he coached little league baseball and participated in Boy Scouts. Dwight helped the boys with home projects such as building decks, garage cabinets, and toy boxes for his grandchildren. Dwight loved the mountains and built a home near Lake Wenatchee. He loved spending time there with his family and grandchildren. He served on the Kahler Glen Resort Board as Treasurer for several years. You would often see him golfing in his spare time. Dwight loved traveling with his family, taking them on two Disney cruises and trips to Hawaii. He took numerous cruises with his wife and loved road trips. Dwight enjoyed his work in genealogy and found cousins he met in West Virginia. Dwight is survived by his mother, Patricia; brothers, Jack (Stephanie), Dave (Debbie); wife, Anita of Everett; his two sons, Dwight Jr (Ruth) of Snohomish, Doug (Angel) of Mukilteo; and six grandchildren, Ethan Miller, Elijah Miller, Joy Miller, Ellie Miller, Fiona Miller and Emersyn Miller. Dwight 65 passed away on October 5, 2018 with gastroesophageal cancer, at the UW hospital. We were so blessed to have such a wonderful team at the SCCA, Dr. Veena Shankaran, Leslie Swanson, Jennifer Singer and Sarah Clark. We also want to acknowledge the UW hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Anita, so sorry to read this so late. Just seeing this obituary that your Dwight passed away - over six years ago now. I am sure, as was for me, so hard when this happens and overwhelming to lose someone as loved in your life as a spouse. I hope you and your family are now all doing well. My condolences. Dwight was my last supervisor at Boeing before retirement. He and Gil Duncan were awsome and ushered me out with respect.

I am so saddened hearing of Dwight's passing. What a difficult time for his family, especially his mother.
I got to know Dwight when we were both in CIE together in the late 90's and early 200's. I enjoyed his company so much. It was always a pleasure to be with him.
My heartfelt condolences to his family on this all-too-soon loss.

Dwight and I met years ago during our career at Boeing. I was in ME and he was in IE. Our training plan was very similar. He was a great person to run ideas across. The last time I met Dwight was at SCCA where my wife was being treated for breast cancer. She passed away on 6/24/18. I really miss Dwight. My prayers go out to the family and friends.

I met Dwight in January of 1979 where we worked for the Mad Red Head, Charlie Moore. Dwight both enjoyed riding the bus from Lynnwood most every day that year until I was transferred to Plant II. Our path again cross when he became my Sr. Manger on the 777 startup airplane program. He always had a kind word for me but what I really enjoyed is the time we would poke fun at one another. He had a wonderful dry wit.

I met Dwight in 1978 at the Everett, WA Boeing plant where I worked with Dave. Over the more than 30 years I knew him, he was always kind, fairminded and focused on doing the right thing. Dwight made going to work something to look forward to. My prayers and thoughts to all the Miller family. May the Lord provide strength and comfort in the times to come.
