Elizabeth McCorkle Obituary

Elizabeth 'Liz' Ann McCorkle

Elizabeth Ann McCorkle, 53, of Arlington, WA, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2013, in Denver, Colorado, after a long battle with cancer. Elizabeth was born on October 17, 1959, in Golden, Colorado, to John and Patricia McCorkle. She moved to Arlington in June of 1995, residing there until moving back to Colorado in February 2013.
She was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Bill Harrington of New York.
Elizabeth is survived
by her mother, Patricia McCorkle of Colorado; father, John McCorkle of California; daughter, Ashleigh Lunis of Colorado; partner, Roger Graafstra of Arlington; sister, Laura Harrington of New York; three brothers, John McCorkle, Michael McCorkle and Douglas
(Angela) McCorkle of Colorado; as well as seven nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth enjoyed riding motorcycles, cooking, and volunteering at Cascade Valley Hospital. Her pride and joy was her daughter, Ashleigh. Elizabeth was incredibly pleased to celebrate Ashleigh's birthday in Colorado, days before her passing.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Denver Hospice Center as well as the doctors and staff at Harborview for their excellent care. Also, the family would like to thank her former husband, Walter Lunis, and Rebecca Remle for assisting Ashleigh in planning and transporting Elizabeth back to Colorado. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Colorado.

Liz you were very special to me and it was a shock finding out you had passed away. We worked together in the early 80´s at Applewood Lanes in Golden CO. I remember the car you drove an Opel and I believe it was yellow that was such a cool car. I thought of you often over the years. Where you went and how your life had gone. It was nice to read you have a daughter I´ll bet she is a wonderful person with a beautiful soul and a great smile just like I remember you had.

Liz – You came into this world in a hurry, being born in the hall from the labor room to the delivery room at St. Anthony's. You did things that were hard like playing the oboe rather than an easier instrument and you did well with it. Several years later, you gave us a wonderful daughter Ashleigh for all of us to love. She was your greatest joy. Your life was filled with ups and downs but you always persevered. After several career paths you became certified as an airplane propulsion and airframe mechanic – a major achievement. As your dad, this made me very proud since, as a pilot, I know what this meant. Once again though, you were in a hurry and passed on at far too young an age. I guess you didn't know that children are not supposed to leave this world before their parents. But, you beat us to the punch on this one. We are confident that you are in a higher spiritual place and free from all your pain, but Liz, you also must always know that you are loved and will be missed dearly. Sweet dreams Liz. Love, your Dad and Donna

Mommy, you fought so hard for the past several years. You have been so incredibly brave and amazing. Despite everything, you always kept your amazing sense of humor and downplayed the incredible weight that was on your shoulders. I hope that I can be near as brave, strong and as amazing as you are. I'm so glad that we were able to take a final road trip together and that I was able to get you back to Colorado. I miss you so much.

Liz, We didn't get the opportunity to spend much time with you, but the times we did share in your company were enjoyable and we will miss you greatly! You seemed to be a kind person with a big heart and were taken from us far too soon.Rest in Peace...Greg & Sandra Lange
