Ethan Elijah Reeves

Ethan Elijah Reeves, seven-year old son of Guinevere and Brendan Reeves, was called back to live with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 17, 2006.
Ethan was born in Vancouver, Washington, on June 30, 1999. He was in the second grade at Glenwood Elementary. Ethan loved sports and was a member of the LSJAA Rams flag football team for the past two years. He was also on the Kid Snips baseball team and Steve's Barbershop T-ball team. Ethan also enjoyed wrestling on the Lake Stevens Beserker's team. Ethan liked P.E. and loved playing with his best friend, Collin. Ethan had a great spirit and was always happy. He was loved by all who knew him. Ethan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and was anxiously awaiting his eighth birthday when he could be baptized.
He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Kaleb, of Lake Stevens, Washington; his grandparents, Marla and Jack Reeves, of Kauai, Hawaii, and Michael and Muriel Garvis, of Preston, Idaho; and his great-grandparents, Willard Rowe and Virgil and Arlene Barnard of American Falls, Idaho.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, with a public viewing between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10120 Chapel Hill Road, Lake Stevens, under the direction of Solie Funeral Home in Everett. Interment will be in the Machias Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ethan Reeves account at Washington Mutual.

Dear Ethan,
It's been just 8 months since you've left and I want you to know that you are still truly missed at Glenwood. Yesterday was your brothers birthday and it was nice to see his happy face handing out his cupcakes. I went to visit you today and I was happy to see that your sight is so beautifully set now with your headstone and your family stone as well. I hope that many will get a chance to visit and see for themselves just what a special place you have. A fitting tribute to a very special boy.

To All,

Just four weeks ago this night, I lost my son. At times it is hard to hard to believe that my son has returned to his heavenly home to be with his Heavenly Father and his brother Our Savior, Jesus Christ. I miss him so much, words nor can actions truely explain my pain, feelings of loss and grief.

I am truely touched by all the thoughtful remarks shared by All due to this tragic accident. They have helped my family and myself bear this tragedy in many ways. I just want all to know, that Ethan has returned to fulfill his next mission, which his Heavenly Father has prepared for Him. He will be an honorably and valiant warrior.

I am blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of his life, to have shared in his triumphs and mistakes that he had in his short time here in his mortal existance. To feel in his pure love and zeal for life. Ethan truely had the ability to make everyone he would meet smile and see life from his point of view. That was one of his special talents he was blessed with by his Heavenly Father. I have reflected on the lessons that he taught me, and I hope that he reflects on the lessons that were taught to him by his loving Dad. I look forward to the time when I might hold him in my arms again and listen to all the stories that he will be able to share with me. To listen to the long list of persons he will have had the opportunity to meet. Adam and Eve, Moroni, Joseph Smith, George Washington, and all my ancestors.

This tragedy has really increased my testimony of the Savior and His love for all of us. I know that they live and love all of us. I am also thankful for my loving wife who helps me understand the plan of salvation and shows me her love for the Savior. I am continually in awe of her strength and love for the Savior. I am thankful for the Saviors love and blessings which he has spread to my older sons. They have truely been blessed to understand why Ethan has returned to our Heavenly Home. I continually hope and pray that they will become truely honorable men with an eye single to the glory of GOD.

May All who read this post, Please know that I love and appreciate all that the Savior has done for me. He is the only one that has given me the inner strength and abilty to handle this burden. I look forward to basking in his love, just as my Baby Ethan has, when I am called home. May I continually live my life by his example and share my testimony to all whom I meet.

May our Father in Heaven bless all of you and your families. Thank you again for your support and prayers.

Love, Brendan Reeves

PS. This is my favorite scripture that I continually shared with Ethan. 2 Timothy 4:7 - Ethan fought a good fight, Finished the Course and Kept the Faith. He has won His place in the Kingdom of Heaven. My Little Strippling Warrior.

Someone once said that having a child was to decide to have your heart go walking outside your body. Situations such as this make this resonate. Please know that my prayers are with you while your hearts are so visibly aching. Ethan was a live wire and a brazen rascal - I liked his style. He will be missed.

Dear Guinn and Brendon,
We will so miss Ethan’s bright enthusiasm and bright smile at church. He was such a ray of sunshine. He didn’t allow himself to be “over looked”, and when Steve and I taught Primary we remember well his excitement at new things. No words can express to you our sorrow, but know that we reach out in love and caring to your family. You are in our prayers

To the Reeves family, Words can not say how sorry I am feeling for your loss of Ethan. I was his pre-kindergarten teacher Ms. Christina and I have many wonderful memories of him at kidsnus. I found some pictures of him the other day and I had to laugh he brought such personality to our class. I still remember his goofy faces and the little friends he made, he was such a kind spirited little boy, I enjoyed having him in class, and I know he touched many lives in his short time here. I know he is in a better place and I know you will all see him again. I pray for your comfort in your grief. God Bless you all.

Ethan... I remember when your mom was pregnant with you, she was trying to decide if your name should be Ethan or William. I told her to pick William because I tought Ethan was a dorky name, but I was wrong, you made the name cool buddy. I know I never said it much Ethan but I love you and your Brothers and your mom and dad and I'm going to miss you soo much. I'm going to miss getting to see you every summer and see how much older you've gotten. But I know your still there watching us; especially your Mom and Dad and brothers. I know they miss you a lot. Somehow let them know everything will be alright. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there with you Guin and Brendan, I really wanted to be, because I love you guys more than you'll know. I love you.

We have never met, though I feel such a deep Love for your family. I am Cristina's mom. Vanessa,Alyssa and Gabe talk of what a great young man Ethan is. In the short time they knew him they felt an instant bond.It touched Vaness especially hard when she heard how excited he was to be baptized next year. I explained how he was so special that his soul is perfect and will automatically be with Heavenly Father and our Savior. In reading these comments from friends and family you can easily see why. I know this is only a little comforting, but I wanted you to know that someone who has never met you or your family has grown to feel such strong emotion and deep sadness for your loss. Please know my heart and prayers are with you and your family. Sincerely,

To the Reeves family-

I didn't know Ethan at all, but my heart aches for your loss. My older son is an 8th grader at North Lake. He came home from school on monday and shared your sad story. We are on a journey through grief now too. My husband died in an accident in December '05 and we are still at a loss to express how much it hurts.

With time it does hurt less intensely, and the memories bring more smiles than tears. I am comforted knowing God will be with you all during these dark times ahead, and will bring you comfort. Use your friends and family for support, as it will also help to have their love and prayers.

I found a grief group for my children through Providence Hospital's hospice, called carousel. It seems to have been helpful for them and I. It starts again in October if you are looking for information or ways to help the boys, you might try it.

In my prayers~

Ah Gwen and Brendan! The loss is unimaginable. July 4th he was running around the neighborhood 'circle' - the neighborhood I feel so much a part of because of my friends Nancy and Larry, Pamela and Patrick. Lean on all of your loved ones during this terrible time. Don't try to figure this one out because there are no answers. Cherish the wonderful memories and take care of each other. Brendan and Family. I am deeply sorry about your loss. I know my dad is there with him and Ethan is talking his head off. The pain is overwhelming right now but somehow from some where you will have the strength to get up everyday and go on. I miss my dad everyday but he helps me get up everyday and encourages me to go on. I will always be here for you and maybe we can use each others shoulders to cry on. Thanks for being there for me in my time of need and I will do my best for you. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Reeves Family,

My daughter Cassidy Boggs had Ethan in her class with Mrs Tarver last year. When I told her what had happened, she said," Mom, he was the first boy I talked to in Mrs Tarver's class, and he was the funniest boy I have ever met." Darby also had Caleb in her class las year. He must have been a very special boy to have my daughter not only remember him, but have such nice things to say about him.

I can only hope your family finds the strength to help you through this difficult time. Please take comfort in knowing there are alot of thoughts and prayers going out to your family.
