Eugene Peterson Obituary

Eugene "Gene" L. Peterson

Eugene "Gene" L. Peterson passed from the loving arms of his wife and caregiver, at home, into the loving arms of the Lord January 26, 2006, after a seven year battle with cancer complicated with a stroke in 2001.
Gene was born October 3, 1934, in Berlin, North Dakota, to Albert and Belle Peterson. Gene came to the Northwest at the age of 18 after many years of helping his father on their farm.
Gene was involved in many things including the building of the Gorge Dam at New Halem and the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. Gene and his first wife, Betty, owned and operated the Minute Mart Grocery in Darrington, Washington, where Gene was also a volunteer fireman. Gene also owned and Operated ABC Rentals in Everett, had many rental properties in Snohomish County, worked for Boeing and Crown Photo. He loved photography, which led him to open his own one hour photo business in Lynnwood, Washington. He was also a former Mason.
He loved fishing and wanted to go fishing one more time so his daughter, Nicole, was able to get a charter boat to fulfill this wish. Making it extra special, his son and grandson were here from New York and were able to go also, creating a wonderful day and memory.
Thank You Nicole.
Gene loved to travel the North Cascades Highway, mountains, the waterfalls, the Mariners and lighthouses. During their last stay at their condo on the Oregon coast, Gene and Eileen traveled the coast almost to California, visiting as many lighthouses as possible.
Gene leaves his loving wife and faithful caregiver, Eileen; his former wife, Betty; children, Valli (Jim) Kiehlbauch, of Tigard, Oregon, Betty Kruse, of Bothell, Washington, Robinn (Dave) Schedin, of Woodinville, Washington, Eugene Jr. (Carmen), of Brooklyn, New York, and Nicole (Chris) Dunphy, of Everett; stepsons, Wayne Spurrier, of Lake Stevens, Washington, Dennis (Janine) Spurrier, of Moses Lake, Washington; step-daughter, Carol Brockman, of Silverdale, Washington; 10 grandchildren, two step-grand-children; one and a half great-grandchildren; brothers, Al, in Montana, Carl, in Nevada, and Victor and Jerome, of North Dakota; and sister, Laura, in North Dakota.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Helen.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, January 28, and from 12 to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 29, at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, January 30, at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Special thanks to Lakeside Community Fellowship Church in Lake Stevens for all their prayers and support; especially Pastor Barry and all the ladies who provided meals; Dr. Batson and all the wonderful staff at the Center for Cancer Care in Everett and Providence Hospice; Ed, Sandy, Charlie, Bonnie and all of the other staff. We could not have taken this journey without you.
Remembrances may be sent to Lakeside Community Fellowship, P.O. Box 607, Lake Stevens, WA 98258, or to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Avenue, Suite 500, Everett, WA 98201.
