Frank Urbick Obituary

Sept. 30, 1955 - Dec. 14, 2017 Frank Howard Urbick of Everett, WA went crabbing on Thursday, December 14, 2017 and did not return. It is believed he went overboard somewhere between Everett Marina and Hat Island. The US Coast Guard held an extensive search and found Frank's boat, but not him. Frank was born September 30, 1955 in Lake Stevens, WA. He graduated from Everett High School in 1974. After a brief stint at Weyerhaeuser, Frank started his 30+ year career at General Telephone Company (GTE). He remodeled his childhood home in Lake Stevens and embarked on the life of a family man. Frank was a loving, committed, and engaged father and always there for his son, Cale and daughter, Ali. Both of his children describe him as their best friend. Frank will be remembered for his supportive, nonjudgmental, and caring nature toward his family, friends, and acquaintances. He cared deeply for people and was selfless with his gifts to others, whether it be time spent talking, or Christmas presents and food for a family in need. Frank spent the last 15 years with his partner, Crystal. The two of them enjoyed road trips, opening their home to loved ones and watching old movies. Frank retired from Frontier Communications (formerly GTE) in May 2015 to commit his time to family, in particular his grandson, Beck, fishing, traveling, and anything else outside. Frank was an avid fisherman and crabber and could often be found joyfully casting a line or throwing pots from his boat in the waters off Everett. Frank was always eager to share his love for the water with others. Frank had a deep, vivacious respect for life and lived each day with joy. Frank will be missed by countless friends and family including his partner, Crystal Debose of Everett; son, Cale Urbick (Cecilia Urbick) of Lake Stevens; daughter, Ali Urbick Borrelli (Niko Borrelli) of Seattle; grandson, Beck Urbick of Lake Stevens; and siblings, Lorna Shea (Mick Shea) of Libby, MT; Dee Urbick of Shelton, WA; Rita Calamar (Mark Calamar) of Forks, WA; John Urbick of Kent, WA and Mike Urbick (Zandra Urbick) of Port Orchard, WA. Frank's family invites everyone who had the honor of spending time with Frank to join us to celebrate him and his kindness and joyful spirit, Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Everett Yacht Club. Come as you are and all are welcome. We hope to share stories, laughs, and inevitably a few tears with those who love Frank. We can all look out over the water and know he is here with us. In lieu of flowers, please provide what you can to your favorite local charity. Frank particularly liked and regularly contributed to causes like the Everett Gospel Mission, Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank, and ChildStrive.

I am so, so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I have known him for many years, and for a long time we met regularly to share our stories of strength & hope to others. He was super helpful to me also when I lost my job, and then my home in economic crisis. He was such a Happy & Caring Individual. I wish I had seen him more often in the last year or so. He will be missed greatly. Sending loving prayers to you Crystal & his family!!

I send my deepest sympathies to the family of Frank. Frank and I worked together for 37 years at the phone company. There was a lot of hours spent together in trucks. With all our conversations I came know the name of every family member and quit a bit about them, also most of his life long friends. I always admired how much Frank loved and cared about his family. Frank was a loyal trusted co-worker and friend. I would like to say I learned a lot and hopefully, I am better person because of my time spent with him. I will never forget you Frank.

I met Frank about 4 years ago at a volunteer type group that helps people in need. He was friendly, engaging and fun. Frank and I had many opportunities to share about our pasts (I loved his stories from his earlier years) and our present (his trips after retirement and time with the grand kids). Frank gave much to me and to countless others that were in need. God bless you Frank.

It's hard to find the words to describe such an amazing man. Frank worked with my dad for 30+ years and this is how I came to know him. Frank had a sense of humor that was right up my alley. This is one of many reasons I loved being around him. On several occasions after his retirement, Frank would invite me out for the morning bite. We shared so many laughs on those cold mornings. He may have had gray hair, but he was young at heart. I'm so thank full I have these moments to remember him by. I will always cherish the time I got to spend with him.
I love you Frank, and I will never forget you.

All of his family and friends are in my thoughts daily. My heart goes out to all of you.

Wow what a tragedy. I met Frank when he transferred to Everett High. We had a couple of classes together and we would bump into each other randomly over the years that followed. He was definitely one of the cool kids that grew into an awesome adult and parent.
