Garald Diseth Obituary

Garald L. Diseth

Garald L. Diseth, age 55 of Everett, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family December 22, 2006.
He was born May 10, 1951 in Seattle, Washington, the son of Ken and Pearl Diseth and lived in Everett.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Thailand. He completed his tour of duty in the Puget Sound area on the USCGC Fir. He worked for the City of Everett as the city pipe welder for over 25 years when he was terminated, after contracting bladder cancer.
Gary was a member of the American Welding Society for the past twenty years, twice being chairman of the Puget Sound Section. He also was on the board of directors of the All City Credit Union for over ten years and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He loved sailing and cruising the San Juan Islands with his family and friends. He also loved to golf and fish. Moving to Alaska was one of the things he never got to do. He will be truly missed by everyone that knew him.
Gary is survived by his mother and father, Ken and Pearl, of Twisp, Washington; brother, Rich, and his wife, Linda, of Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Norma, of Everett; and nieces, Lauren and Renee. He also leaves his loving companion, Maggie Mae, who was always by his side.
Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Ron.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2006, at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Avenue, Everett; with a reception to follow in the Fireside Room.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Avenue, Everett, WA 98201

I have known Gary for over 15 years. Without his energy and drive, the Puget Sound section would not have been able to be a strong influence in our communities. Gary was always ready with guidance and support. We will miss his always upbeat, and sunny spirit.

In addition to being the City of Everett's Utilities Divison welder, Gary also filled roles of welding inspector, crane inspector and reviewed many upcoming projects plans and specifications to insure proper welding details, procedures and welding specifications. Gary's presense has been missed by many in Everett's Utilities Division.

For the past 25 years, I've had the privelege of meeting and getting to know Gary through our common profession - welding - and our affiliation with the American Welding Society. He will always be fondly remembered as an outstanding member and friend.
