Garry Spesock Obituary

Garry Spesock of Camano Island, born June 25, 1937, crossed into eternity on June 18, 2022. His great faith, generosity, and sense of humor will be missed. Born in Great Falls MT, Garry graduated high school in 1956, where he excelled in sports. He married Marjorie Menghini on June 15, 1957, and was drafted into the Army in 1960. In 1962 he and Marjorie moved their growing family to the PNW, where Garry opened a small business that he ran for more than 50 years. In 1995 they built their dream home on Camano Island, where they resided until he passed. Garry's passion was people, and he dearly loved his family. He didn't know a stranger, and countless lives have been impacted by his unconditional love. He enjoyed volunteering in many ways: welding for Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach; teaching in kids' ministry; hosting small groups; feeding the hungry; and helping people in need wherever he would go. Garry was preceded in death by: cherished sons, Rickey and Michael; granddaughter, Samantha; his parents, Ed Spesock and Marie Peterson; and siblings Dolly, Ray, Donald, and Arvil. Garry is survived by: his beloved wife of 65 years, Marjorie; siblings, Jack, Donna and Robin; children, Jeffery (Janet) and Teresa (John); grandchildren, Gavin (Amanda), Shawndra, Shelby, Garrett, Shane, Breanne, and Olivia; and great grandchildren, Harper, Adeline and Luna. We will celebrate Garry's great faith and well-lived life at 2pm on June 25, 2022, which would have been Garry's 85th birthday, at Island Christian Fellowship, 66 NE Camano Dr, Camano Island, WA 98282. Until his last breath, he was joking and confident in his journey into eternity to meet Jesus. He leaves a large gap in the lives of all who knew him.

Gary and Marjorie are an inspiration to my walk with CHRIST! I enjoyed serving the hungry with them and studying the bible together. Their shoes could never be filled but will try none-the-less! We won't be long behind you. See you at supper!

He served with a tireless joy, and I can't even begin to name the many ways he helped me in the short time I knew him, but I am truly blessed to have known him. With love and God's peace,

My Grandpa was a very special man. He was so pure and his smile could light up a room. He really cared for others. I remember walking around with him in a store saying "you dropped something" they would say "what?" and he would say "your smile". They would always smile back. He was a big role model in my life. He showed me to care for others. He told me if I didn´t understand, ask questions. He really opened up his heart and touched so many peoples lives. I´ll miss ya Pa. I´m so proud to call you my Grandpa. Love you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Gary. I can't Believe Rick/Mike are gone as well. My best memory of Gary. is mike & I got back late from fishing at lake serene. Gary made mike go in the front yard and start trimming the lawn with a pair of tweezers. Mike was balling like a baby. as i left for home.

My brother meant so much to me as he did to us all. A role model to follow. I will miss him so much.

I knew Garry casually for many years. The obit is right, no one was a stranger to Garry. He was friendly, jovial and a genuine pleasure to be around. I knew him from eating at Glacier Lanes and a couple of other mom and pop restaurants.

He liked people and if anyone was around he was probably going to find a way to start a conversation with them. While he would certainly talk about projects, which he enjoyed working on, he was more likely to be talking about trying to help someone he thought deserved a break. I think he found real joy in helping those around him.

Garry was also a good listener. He was patient and understanding. I never heard a harsh word pass his lips. He always found a kind and pleasant way to say whatever it was he wanted to say.

He was an all around nice guy and the salt of the Earth.
He was modest, humble and planted the seeds of kindness and joy wherever he went. It was a pleasure to know him.
