George Norris McIntyre, 74, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021 at his home in Stanwood. George was born to Albert and Helen McIntyre on May 14, 1946 in Snohomish. He was raised in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1964.
In January of 1965 George entered the US Navy serving in the Philippines for 18 months as a dental technician. He then was transferred to the Marines and served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a medic stationed in Da Nang. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Monroe and worked for a time at the Weyerhauser company where he unfortunately lost a leg due to an accident. After that he worked for the City of Monroe.
George was a member of the VFW and the Snohomish Legion. He gave generously to various Veteran agencies always remembering and honoring those who served our country.
George's four big loves were family, fishing, camping and traveling. He went on numerous fishing trips with his father and brothers to lakes around here and in Eastern WA. He also had the chance to fish in Alaska with his friend, Don Carver. His traveling extended to Mexico and around the US but he especially loved his trip to Thailand. He always longed to return, but was unable to do so. George loved his daughter Natessa and enjoyed spending time with her. He also dearly loved his extended family and the Bonnallie family and made every effort to attend family reunions, holidays and events.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Jerry and Tom. He leaves his daughter, Natessa, his brother Mike (Florence), his adopted family Brody, Leasa, Carsen and Kennady Bonnallie, sisters in law Karen Austin and Vicky McIntyre and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, laughter and genuine caring spirit. We look forward to seeing him again in a heavenly reunion. Due to the current Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a future time.

Brother George, I have have he pleasure of knowing you and your family for about 20 years, mostly as your service technician, but later as a friend and Chaplain. I have watched your strengths and struggles, your joy and your sadness. It has always been an honor to know you. Our conversations over coffee about all kinds of subjects, the Navy, camping, family have been a special portion of our relationship. The finest talks we had were about your faith. The hard times and choices from the past, your tears, and how you found that our Lord was always with you, and in the last 8 years or so, your acknowledgement of His grace over your life. We shared several prayers to the Almighty, and although my heart has a sadness to it for now, I have no doubt that we will all be together one day in Heaven. Rest in our Lords peace my friend.

George was one of my best friends. We went through school together and attended Sunday School together.... Throughout his life we did many things together mostly swimming in the river on lake rosinger and other water sports.... We also had some great times in the hippie era of the '70s.... We wrote letters to each other for the years that I was gone.... Recently, since I am now living in Wyoming we spent two or three hours a week talking on the phone.... That was a great time for both of us and I really miss him dearly....

I grew up in the same small town as George (Monroe), but only got to know him well in later years. His kind spirit and zest for life will not be forgotten.

George or to us Grandpa George moved out to Stanwood with us 21 years ago, with his dog Muffin when we bought a house near Lake Goodwin. Carsen was 7 and Kennady was 5. He was their caregiver, teacher, friend, confidant, and of course their Grandpa George. A role he excelled in. He not only took care of our kids, he watched over our family, our pets and property. He was always here for us. He attended soccer, baseball, basketball games, every school Veterans Day assembly, birthday parties, holidays, camping trips and even a few shop parties where parents weren’t even allowed. He had great stories and everyone loved talking to him. He had the biggest heart and loved his family.
I will miss our talks, overhearing his conversations with himself or the squirrels, or the odd music playing by some new artist that he saw on PBS and had called in to buy the CD. I will even miss the endless mail from charities thanking him for his many donations.
His death has caused us deep sadness as he was such a big part of our daily lives . He was here for us in good times and bad and we were here for him. This is a really big loss for our family. We loved him very much! He was Grandpa George. We really miss him!!!!

The George McIntyre that I knew was one of the finest men that you would want to meet. He always had a smile on his face that would permeate thru-out a room. He never complained even when life handed him hardships that most people whould not know how to deal with. It was always a pleasure to see George at different events and reminisce about years past. I knew George mostly thru his older brother Mike (my classmate) and visited him at the Vet's hospital on Beacon Hill in Seattle at different times. He always made me feel like part of the family when Dr's came in with various questions. He was very "down to and the salt of the earth". We have lost a great friend and brother.

Uncle George,
Thank you for your unconditional love and generosity. You were always so giving with all the kids at Christmas. Every time we saw you, you would light up a room and always made us feel special and loved. We will miss you at camp outs and holidays. I love listening to dad's stories about the fishing trips and how you always misplaced things! You will be greatly missed. Take care of Kona for us, I know she's playing with Muffin. This is good bye for a short time. Until we see you again, rest in peace we love you uncle George. Love, Chris, Armando, Aleicia, Rachelle, and Riley Meza

George my brother and best friend, I will miss you so much and there will be a great void in me for the rest of my life. I shall treasure all of the good memories you left me from us growing up in old Monroe to the present. Those fishing trips every year for the past 30 years with dad, Jerry, Tom and me and you. Lots of B.S., fishing and playing cribbage.
George I wish you could see all the cards and emails I have received from your old classmates, loving cousins, and so many friends. All of my kids and grandkids are really going to miss their uncle George. Your daughter Tess and your special family, the Bonnallies will be lost without you for a while.
Sorry you had to go to Vietnam for two years, one for you and one to keep our brother Jerry out of the war, as he was drafted and in the infantry and ready to be shipped over. We know how much you supported the Veterans of Foreign wars and the Snohomish Legion.
George I don't have the words to tell you how much all of us are going to miss you. Thanks again for the great times and memories. Rest now, you have earned it in so many ways. We lost so much in you but, Heaven has gained a good man . I know we will be together again and we can go on another fishing trip. You know it will be catch and release up there.
Love you George,
Your loving brother Mike and family

Going to miss you George and the giggles you would give me when I would get you going on a topic. You’re a sweet bird that can now fly with the rest of your family. Thank for the memories my dear George and please say hello to everyone for me.
