Gwen Parker (Knutsen), aged 76, passed away on June 25, 2024, in her hometown of Snohomish, WA. Born on July 2, 1947, in Snohomish, Gwen was a lifelong resident who left a significant mark on her community.
A proud graduate of Snohomish High School, Gwen was well-known in the town not only for her warm personality but also as the beloved co-owner of The River's Edge cafe. Alongside her best friend and business partner, Christine Wolfer, Gwen served the community for many years, turning the cafe into a local gathering spot filled with food, fun and laughter. She loved the girls that she worked with and considered them family.
Those who knew Gwen will remember her as a kind and generous soul, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. Her love for her friends and family was immense, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rachel Knutsen. Gwen is survived by her long-time partner, Richard Munroe; her son, Chad Cheney; her grandchildren, Bailey and Mitchell Cheney her brother, Ron Knutsen; her niece Rachel Egbert and nephew John Knutsen. She had so many friends and family members that visited her in the past month, a special "thank you" to all of you.
Gwen's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness and community spirit. A Celebration for Gwen is something she would have wanted and will be scheduled soon.

Gwen was a friend in high school and was always friendly when we passed each other in Snohomish. I am saddened by her passing and she will be remembered.

Thanks for having me over a few afternoons after school at Valley View, in the winter and spring of 1982. I still remember Chad's hat, when I saw him for the first time waiting for our school bus with my cousins in early September 1974.
