James Block Obituary

James Albert Block
Oct. 4, 1915-Sept. 11, 2011

James Albert Block was born in Kingman, Kansas to deaf parents. He lived in Kansas and Oklahoma as a boy and moved to Washington with his parents and three sisters as a teenager. They bought a farm in Monroe, WA where he lived the rest of his life. As a young man, he helped his father build their house and later he built another house next door for his parents.
He worked in logging as a young man and in the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1946 he met and married his wife, Eleanor Goerz, and they raised three children. He worked at Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company until his retirement. His hobbies included woodworking and farming. He was a faithful husband, a godly Christian man, a loving father, and great example to his family and friends of a life well-lived.
He is survived by his sisters, Eunice Louthan of Sacramento, California and Jennie Bosket of Everett, Washington; daughters, Emily Bunting of Colville, Washington and Carolyn Cross of Bothell, Washington; son, Harvey Block of Monroe, Washington; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He will be buried next to his wife at the Monroe Cemetery.
