Jim Geiger Obituary

Jim Geiger

Jim Geiger, loving husband, father, son, coach, and very dear friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at the age of 57.
Jim was passionate about living life to the absolute fullest. He loved golf, traveling, wine, but most of all, baseball. Through his 26 years of coaching baseball, he touched the lives of many fine young athletes. Jim always surrounded himself with incredible friends and experiences. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Jim is survived by Toni, his wife of 37 years; daughter, Kelli; son, Chris; father, Ted; Samantha, and numerous other relatives. And...we finally know who's watching Drew...
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2007, in the Kamiak High School gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jim Geiger Scholarship Fund at any local Cascade Bank.

Kelli,
I just got an e-mail from Christine with the information about your dad. Our family is in shock. We just saw your dad last year at a hockey game. It just seems so unreal!! Your family is in my prayers through this difficult time. Take care and if you need anything feel free to e-mail or call.

Toni, Kelli and Chris,
My heart goes out to you. I am so sorry to hear about Jim. Although I haven't seen any of you for many, many years, I remember you all with very fond memories. Oh those softball days. And Jim's smile and laughter are part of those great memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you. The Earth lost a great man and heaven gained one.

Toni, Kelli & Chris.....My heart goes out to you and your family. I will miss Jim very much and I will remember all the wonderful and funny chats we had in your store, my salon and at the golf course. He was one of the nicest people that I have ever met and everytime I wear all my special designed jewelry that he did for me I will think of him. I would have loved to join the celebration of Jim's life today but I have been struggling with cancer for the last 1 1/2 years and was not able to attend. I will keep you all in my heart & prayers. Love to you all.

Jim was a great coach and I will always remember him for that. I played for him for two years at Kamiak and enjoyed being around him. He was a great man and will be dearly missed. He helped me a lot with my baseball career and I know he helped many others. May he rest in peace now and may his family and friends stay strong in through these times.

Toni, Kelli & Chris, We are so deeply saddened by Jim's passing. He was such an amazing man: father, husband, & friend. Our fondest memories are of our late Christmas eve's spent together, a late night cocktail while we wrapped presents for our young children and you'd keep us company. We'd laugh and enjoy our friendship. We were lucky enough to be friends with you before we moved next door, and you both were the best neighbors--Mike borrowing Jims tools and Jim having an answer (the Shell answer man) for any question Mike would ask. But we will always remember how Jim made people feel--always welcome, that he cared, that he was your firend, even if you just met him. We will always remember the gentle giant and that great laugh and smile. What an amazing man and we were blessed to have known him. Our prayers are with you and we hope that they give you some comfort during this difficult time. We are so glad that Mike got to see Jim his last trip to Seattle, what a blessing! Our love and prayers to you three and if there is anything we can do, just call.

Jim was one of my favorite coaches of all the ones ive had through my life. Playing baseball under Jim, he always had a positive outlook on the game no matter what situation we were in. I honestly dont recall him getting upset at us at all. Jim was always complimenting you and building up your confidence and by golly he did a heck of a great job. My families hearts and prayers will go out to you (Toni,Kelly and Chris) everyday til I see him again. We miss you Mr.Coach Geiger. Tom Featherstone and family.

Our hearts go out to Toni, Chris, Kelly, and the rest of the Geiger family. We cannot begin to appreciate the extent of your grief; we can only grieve with you. Please take what solace you can from the outpouring of love, and expressions of loss, that Jim's passing has brought about. May God send you comfort, and healing, and peace.
Jim's calm, welcoming presence will be missed by everyone who knew him. No one was ever better at making everyone feel as if they belonged, were respected, and valued. If ever there was an avatar of true class, it was Jim Geiger. It is often said that the defining quality of a great teammate is that they somehow make their teammates better; Jim made everyone around him- absolutely everyone-better.
Thanks for everything, big guy. We will never forget you, your laugh, or your smile.

Dear Toni, Kelli and Chris,
I was driving through Mukilteo today and saw the sign up in memory of Jim. I almost drove off the road in shock...I am so sorry for your loss and will really miss knowing that Jim is around with his big smile and caring ways. Your family was a big part of our lives many years ago in Ballard and I'll always remember how proud he was of you three. May God give you comfort as you go through this hard time in your lives.

My family (The Kooy's and Gilmore's), want to extend our deepest sympathy to you the Geiger family. Jim has always brought great joy to us in the work he has done with our jewlery. It was always nice to come into the store and talk with Jim's friendly disposition. He will truly be missed and we will always remember him when we look at our jewlery he has designed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our dear Uncle Jim was a great man, loved by so many people. He touched so many lives in so many different ways.

Jim is my husband Brian's uncle, married to his Aunt Toni (Christensen) and he has been my uncle since 1976 when I came into the Christensen family. We have spent every Christmas eve, but one with the Geiger family since then; Jim was Christmas to us, and Godfather to our daughter Erika, and we were Godparents to Jim and Toni's children, Kelli and Chris as well. Brian has many wonderful, early memories of Jim when he and Toni first got together, from when Brian was a young teenager, and Jim took him under his wing; driving with him in his 'muscle car' through "Dick's" and other cruising spots, attending Sonic and Rainier games, and hydroplane races, and playing basketball and football together, and many weekend trips to the family property at Timberlake. Jim & Toni even had Brian's construction company build their current home in Mukilteo. Jim always had a way of making people feel good about themselves. This is a loss that was too early in a life so influential to so many others, and we cannot imagine life without him in it... however, I know Jim would kick us in the butt for not getting on with our lives as well. It will be a difficult task for us ALL, but one we all must master.

It is wonderful to know how many young lives Jim has touched through his coaching; Jim made a difference.

Our hearts go out to you Toni, Kelli and Chris, and we want you to know we are here for you. Jim is a man no one will soon forget, so when we remember him, we must always remember him with the happy memories he created for us all.

God Bless you and keep you at this difficult, and changing time in your lives, and give you the courage you will need to carry on~

Toni, Kelli and Chris;
The Geiger family have been great neighbors for many years; a friendly wave, a quick hello or a woof from Gunner. We fondly remember the hot chocolate served at the top of the hill after a wild ride down the slippery road after a "big snow". Darn those sanding trucks!
We are so sorry for your loss.

Our thoughts and prayers to the Geiger family. We are so grateful for all of the wonderful service provided to us by "our" local jeweler over many years we have lived in Mukilteo. My husband's father was a local jeweler in Montana, and Jim has helped us make rings and reset family diamonds. He and his family are the only people we trust with our special heirlooms. We are so so sorry to hear about this. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I will always remember Jim's hard work and dedication on the baseball diamond. He wanted his players to be successful on and off the field, he was great coach and even a greater man. Thank you for coaching me for so many years.

Although we haven't been in close touch with Jim and his family for several years now, we have fond memories of Chris playing on our oldest son, David's, team together. We would occasionally see Jim and Toni around since then, and they would always have a friendly wave and hello for us. We were both very saddened to hear of his loss, and hope that his family can hold tight onto the wonderful memories they have of him. Losing a loved one is never easy, but knowing how lucky you were to have the time with that person that you did have is something to hold on to. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless.

What a really great guy with a big heart. I will really miss him and all the fun chats we used to have in the back of the store. Jim was always someone who would do anything for for his friends, family and customers.

Geiger Family - I want to express my sincerest sympathy for your loss. Jim was a great man and the photo you chose for the notice showed that warm & welcoming Jim Geiger smile! Knowing Jim throughout childhood, into young adulthood and now married life, he was always sincerely interested in how things were going. I always enjoyed my visits to the Jewelery Store even if to just say hello and see how the golf game was.

Many have already said it, but Jim will be missed dearly as he has touched so many lives throughout his 57 years.

Toni, Kelli & Chris, We were so surprised to hear of your great loss. He was a wonderful man, dedicated to his family, who loved sports. Our son Josh was coached by Jim in more ways than one. Not only was he an icon in the Mukilteo area, who leaves behind a great legacy, but our personal jeweler, as well. Jim loved and believed in the youth. He was kind, giving, and a gentle giant. He will be missed greatly. Our prayers are with your family and our tender thoughts are with you always. May God be with you and keep your fondest and most precious memories alive. Our deepest sympathy to the Geiger family on the loss of Jim. While we did not have the opportunity to have known him for a great length of time, we were always impressed with his wonderful sense of humor, his loyalty to family, and his sincerity of friendship. Our prayers will be with the family during this time of grief and we would ask the Lord for healing, comfort and guidance for the family.

Dear Toni, Chris, Kelli, and family, I truely share your sorrow, but also the great joy for having had the opportunity to know Jim, and to have coached basketball with him at the Mukilteo Boys and Girls Club for those few years when Chris was growing up, and to have watched him coach for the Kamiak Knights over the past decade. Of all the coaches that I have coached with over many years, Jim was my favorite. We always had a great time, even when we lost, and we always found something to joke and laugh about; that is probably what I most loved about Jim. If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Was hoping beyond hope that Jim would pull through. I enjoyed coaching with and against him and was pleased to have him coach my own son. A great loss, a man who will be missed by many.

I am terribly sorry to hear about your loss. I saw the notice on a sign in Mukilteo a few days ago. It's been some time since we've seen Jim but knew him when our son, Charlie, played ball in Mukilteo Little League. He was a very well respected man. We lost Charlie earlier this year to cancer and know that all of your wonderful memories will keep you going one day at a time.

Best wishes to you from all of our family.

Jimmy Geiger was a big part of our childhood. We lived the Wallingford neighborhood two houses down from his grandparents. His grandmother was fondly known by all the kids as Grandma. We shared many years and many Christmas Eves together. We remember his and his grandfather’s enjoyment of the Seattle Rainiers and are pleased to see that baseball continued to be a big part of his life.

I, Susan, was his age and we were playmates. Theresa, who was younger, remembers him as another big brother and his parents were her godparents.

Even though we lost track of him in our adult years we would occasionally hear good things about him. It is gratifying to read about his loving family, good friends and contributions to kids. This doesn’t surprise us as we have very fond memories of him and have thought about him many times through the years.

Our prayers are with you. We also lost someone, our brother John, at 57 years of age. We hope you find comfort in the time of great loss.

I met Jim over 20 years ago on a business trip to Seattle, we hit it off right away with our mutual love for baseball. Over the past 20 years Jim has allowed me into his world and his beautiful family, i will miss him dearly on my trips to Seattle and Tucson where we shared many rounds of golf, baseball games, margaritas and great times.
He had promised me he would come to NY so i could take him to Yankee stadium, he never made it, but i know he will be there in spirit with me the next time i go.
All my love to the Geiger family and all of his friends
