Joan Erpenbach Obituary

Joan Katherine Erpenbach of Marysville, WA age 79, died February 24, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marysville. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Joan, the daughter of William and Ellen (Howie) Erpenbach, was born August 3, 1934 in Albert Lea, MN. She entered the Franciscan Order in 1954 and was trained as an RN. She served as a nurse in Portsmouth, OH and at St. Teresa's College in Winona, MN. Joan relocated to the west coast and finally settled in Marysville. She drove the bus for the city of Everett. She probably ministered to more people in that capacity than as a nurse. Joan was very active in the church, especially as a Eucharistic Minister to the home bound. In addition to her community, Joan loved the outdoors. She could be seen walking the beach with neighborhood dogs often. She played softball for many years, and enjoyed chopping wood and mowing lawns late into her 70s. Joan is survived by her brother, Deacon William Erpenbach of Faribault, MN; nieces and nephews: Joan E. Erpenbach, Michael Erpenbach, Peter Erpenbach, Robert Erpenbach, and Teresa (Erpenbach) Rosenthal all of MN. Joan is also survived by her "Washington family", Doug and Holly Miller; their daughters, Becky and Ellie and families. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law, Mary Erpenbach.

I will miss my special St Mary's friend so much. She welcomed and made me feel at home when I moved back to the area. It will be hard not to see her face in the pew where we all sat. She will be so missed by every life she touched even briefly. My prayers to her friends and family

I volunteered with Joan at hospital and also played Bunko with her for 25 years. What a great lady! She loved her place on Tulip beach and boy could she cut wood. Roger-my husband-gave her aload from our place in Everett and she even helped split it and load it.

God Bless you and
will miss you,

My eyes teared up and my heart skipped a beat when I heard of my friend Joan passing.

I met her August 2005 and we immediately became fast friends enjoying each others company .

She was always smiling and fun to be around. I visited her several times at her Tulalip home where I enjoyed several sunsets from the beach there. I invited her to Hawaii to see our sunsets but, sadly, she never made it. Maybe she is viewing them now?

May God bless her ...... I will miss her very much.

We were friends for 35 years. She welcomed me with a warm smile and sage advice my first days with Everett Transit. Each infrequent meeting along the bus routes around Everett was with a hardy wave and smile. To say that she will be missed is an understatement as she held each person she ever met in such a special way that, even if it was for just a moment, you knew you were with a very special individual.
