Joan Switzer Obituary

Joan Irene Switzer

Joan Irene Switzer, a Prineville, Oregon resident, passed away on May 27, 2008, at her daughter's home in Marysville, WA, after a year long battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.
Joan was born in Renton, Washington, on June 17, 1936 to George and Helen Lines. She graduated from Renton High School and then attended the University of Washington, before getting married and settling in the Seattle, Washington, area.
In 1978, she moved to Kennewick, Washington, where she met Gary Justin Switzer, whom she married on August 30, 1991 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. After retiring, they moved to Prineville, Oregon in 2002 to enjoy the small town life; deer and rabbits running through their yard and breath-taking view of the mountains around them.
Joan leaves behind her two daughters, Stephanie (Harold) Clark of Marysville, WA, and Debbie Doupé, of Los Angeles, California; two step-sons, Marc Switzer, of Kennewick, WA and Mike Switzer, of Connell, WA; she also leaves behind four grandchildren, Daniel, Becky, Peter and Sarah Clark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marlene Friars; and her husband, Gary Switzer.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, June 2, 2008, at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 5115 100th Street NE, Marysville, WA 98270.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Avenue #500, Everett, WA 98201 or at
