Jonathan Stensaa Obituary

Jonathan Stensaa

Wasilla resident Jonathan Stensaa, age 33, passed away at his home June 20, 2011 from complications of diabetes.
Funeral services for Jonathan will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood. Jon's final resting place will be at Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood, WA. There will be a viewing for Jon on Wednesday and Thursday June 29, 30, at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Jon was born June 23, 1977 in Mt Vernon, WA.
Jon attended Aces High School in Washington State and graduated in 1996; he also attended Everett Community College and received his certification as a welder. He moved to Alaska in 2000 and lived in Wasilla with his wife, Melissa, and their three children.
Jon worked for the Alaska railroad as a Car man since 2003 and served as President of TCU Union #6067. He enjoyed 4 wheeling with his friends and camping with his family. He also enjoyed shooting, dip netting and working on his truck.
Jon will be remembered by his family as a wonderful husband, father, son and brother who was a hard worker despite all the challenges life threw at him and he was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He lived his life to the fullest and didn't let anything get in the way of his goals. His family said they have a hole in their hearts that will never heal. Jon was sunshine in a cloudy day, was always there with a smile and a kind word, and always a shoulder you could lean on; who, even though he faced many struggles in his own life, never let it get in the way of looking out for his family. His friends will miss him and all who knew Jon wish him to rest in peace.
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.
Jon is survived by his wife, Melissa and his children, Benjamin, Cooper and Elizabeth all of Wasilla, AK; his parents, Barbara and Tim Giddens of Lake Stevens, WA; and his father, Ray Stensaa of Stanwood, WA. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael and Benjamin Stensaa, Shane, Kyle and Konan Giddens, Alec and Aron Stensaa; and sister, Annie Stensaa.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Denise Stensaa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to the Wells Fargo Bank C/O Stensaa Children Acct #6124306603.
The family was cared for by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory Wasilla, Alaska, and Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.

I am saddened that Jon is gone but know that he is now in a place where he is free from the burdens of what pained him. He was a decent person and a nice guy. I knew him from the Skate Deck from years gone past. My sincerest condolences to Jons whole family.

We grew up together socially, and we all drifted apart. Different states, new lives. Losing one of our own, and not being able to see what a wonderful man they turned into is very sad! Jons wife and 3 kids are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about Jon. I did not get to spend alot of time with Jon, but the time I did spend with Jon showed me that he was a Great person, both inside and out. It is such a tragedy to lose someone like Jon at such a young age. He will be extremely missed, by both family and friends.
