Loren Oliver Jr.

Loren Oliver, Jr.&bb& Loren Oliver, Jr., born February 26, 1933, passed away January 11, 2003.&pe&He grew up in Fargo, ND, played American Legion Jr. Baseball, and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1950. Mr. Oliver received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1954. He was active in the Sigma Chi social fraternity and held a baseball scholarship there. Following college he played professional baseball for the Cleveland Indians and the Baltimore Orioles Farm Systems.&pe&He joined the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Companies in St. Paul, MN in 1956, earned his M.B.A. degree at the University of Minnesota, his C.P.C.U. and C.L.U. designation in the insurance industry. Later he moved to Portland, OR and then to the Seattle Northwest Service Center as Vice President and General Manager. He retired in 1993. Later in life he played in the Emerald City Masters Senior Softball League when they were World Champions. He was a member of the U.S. Handball Association, Manor Athletic Handball Club in Lynnwood, the Lutheran Church (LCA), Elks, Eagles, Seattle Symphony, American Rose Society, and received a life distinction with the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America.&pe&He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Carro-Oliver of Bothell, WA; son Michael Oliver, wife Kimberly and their children Ashley Mae and Tanner of Woodburn, OR, and son Timothy Oliver of San Diego, CA; sisters Lynn and husband Orion Thoen of Crookston, MN, and Cathie Oliver Walstad of Lakeville, MN; nephew David Walstad; and nieces Tracey Hornung, Siri Meyer, Stephanie Paverud, and Amy Walstad.&pe&He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Mae Oliver; and his parents, Loren Fritsche Oliver and Grace Westenborg Oliver. &pe&A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 17, 2003 at 11 am at the Chapel of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 425-672-1800.&pe&Memorials may be contributed to the charity of your choice or to the Manor Athletic Handball Club of Lynnwood, WA.
