Marilyn Smithson Obituary

Marilyn Rae Smithson of Agness, Ore. died peacefully on February 16, 2016, at her Retirement Community in Everett, Wash. with her husband and youngest daughter by her side. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Vernon; two brothers; four children, and three stepchildren, 16 grand-children and 11 great grandchildren. Born on June 21, 1937, in Devils Lake, N.D. to Lena Meier and Martin Zarr, Marilyn had two brothers, Bob Zarr and Don Zarr. She graduated high school in Great Falls, Mont. Marilyn married Vernon on February 16, 1974, after meeting while working on the railroad for Burlington Northern. Together, Vernon and Marilyn loved dancing, raising and racing quarter horses, and spending time with their family. Marilyn was very artistic, excelling in painting, quilting, and crafts. She deeply loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending many of their sporting events. She was and still is known for her "Hey, Hey! Take It Away" chant at her granddaughter's basketball games. Memorial Service to be held at Washington Oaks Retirement Community, Everett, WA on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 1:00 p.m.
