Marvelyn M. Hipskind Hewitt Marvelyn May Hipskind Hewitt, 96, of Olympia, WA, and formally of Monroe, WA, Quincy, WA, and Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2018 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard (Babe) Hewitt; parents, Carl Frederick and Effie May Hipskind; three sisters, Hazel, Elinor and Gladys, three brothers, Glen, Dave, and Verne and daughter, Suzanne. Marvelyn was born in Payne, Ohio, in her parent's home, on August 15, 1922. She worked as a legal secretary and later as a homemaker. While in Wenatchee she met the love of her life, Leonar (Babe) Hewitt and they were married on July 2, 1949. Marvelyn and Babe relocated to Quincy in 1961 where they continued to raise their five children; Judee (Don) Johnson, Suzy (John) Pelly, Robbi (John) Wright, Edward (Teresa) Hewitt Sr. and Diane (Ron) Fox. She had 10 grand-children, Mark Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jeff Pelly, Angela Morhous, Julie Major, Edward Hewitt Jr., Robyn Parrish, Brittany Hewitt, Kellen and Karlie Fox,and 14 great grandchildren. Marvelyn lived a beautiful life and everyone she touched was enriched with her kindness and compassion. She taught herself to play the piano and took up oil and water color painting as a hobby. She could sew, knit or crochet anything. As dementia started to take over, she found herself being an avid word search and crossword puzzle expert trying hard to not let the disease take her drive to stay connected to life and family. Special thanks to Mother Joseph Care Center for their kindness and care for our Mom and to Hospice for their support in her final days of life. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018, IOOF Cemetery, 21714 Old Owen Rd, Monroe, WA 98272. Reception to follow.
