Meredith Moore Obituary

Meredith June (Broekema) Moore, 84, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 17, 2013 in Arlington, WA. Meredith was born on August 3, 1929 in Bozeman, MT, the third of nine children of William and Dorothy (Ungersma) Broekema. She is survived by Chester Moore, her husband of 64 years. Meredith enjoyed her role as a homemaker and taking care of her family while Chet worked shift work at Weyer haeuser Pulp and Paper. She loved to entertain family and friends and many wonderful family traditions were started by her. One of them being our families' progressive dinner during the Christmas season. Meredith wanted all of us to see each others homes while decorated for the holiday season. This was always fun and included her special niece, Vicki Chrisman. Over the years, Meredith had many hobbies including hiking, bowling, cooking and baking, gardening, canning, singing and playing the piano, antiquing, quilting and working at the Farmer's Market in Silvana. She was also interested in the people she met and she never met a stranger. She will be remembered for her love of family and faith in her Lord. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother known as Grandma Moore, and great grandmother affectionately called Grandma Kiki. Meredith attended Anchor of Hope Community Church of Stanwood, WA, where her Christian family was very important to her. She loved attending church. Meredith is survived by her faithful husband, Chester; their three children, Chuck (Debby), Greg (Kathleen) and Jill (Gary) Burt; grandchildren, Aaron, Lani, Jeff, Leisha, Kyla, Haley, Gregory, Brad and Brittany; and her great-grandchildren, Brock, Ty, Preslee, Holland, Elliot, London, Liliana, Keegan and Taylor. She is also survived by two brothers, Morrie and Willis Broekema; three sisters, Jerita Andrieson, Marcia Hogue and Irma Tiffany; plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Broekema; brother, Howard Broekema; and her sisters, Genevieve Voulkos and Dorothy Walden. Following a private internment, a memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Arlington, 426 N. French Ave., on December 28, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.

Our lives change so suddenly at the loss of someone so near and dear to us. We are consoled in knowing this is just a temporary separation. We rejoice in knowing we will be reunited and spend eternity together with our Lord and Savior! God's peace be with you! We are so grateful to you for posting the Memorial Service - "Mom's Eulogy", the photo gallery, and video. We are sorry that we were unable to personally attend. Willis is recovering from an injured back and Bev from surgery and RA limitations. Thank you for bringing Meredith's Memorial Service to us - it is just wonderful. My Aunt Meredith was a second Mother to me. When I was taking my Mom for cancer treatments in 1972, she took care of my 2 year old son. She was a wonderful support to me when my Mom passed away, and for the next 40+ years. She was devoted to family and family values. She loved her family more than anything and we in turn loved her. She was a farm girl at heart and shared her canning and garden bounty with everyone. Her passing is going to leave a big void in my family. Love you to pieces Aunt Meredith, say hi to Mom for me!
