Butch Davis, 74, passed away January 19, 2021 at Everett Providence Medical Center. He was born in Everett, WA to Millard Lee Davis and Mary Louise Davis. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1964. Soon after graduating he joined the Navy and served from 1964-1967 on the USS Valley Forge (LPH8) as a Radio Operator. After being honorably discharged from active duty he transferred to the Washington National Guard from 1967- 1969.
After his military career Butch was hired at the Snohomish County Sheriff's office on January 1, 1970. While at the Sheriff's office Butch worked various assignments and was totally respected, trusted and loved by his subordinates. He was a true leader and made good judgements for his colleagues and citizens of Snohomish County. Butch retired at the rank of Sergeant on July 16, 2005.
Butch was also involved in the community. He was a co-owner of S&D Promotions where he and Mike Stering promoted the indoor flat track races at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds and Rainer Raceway for 21 years. He felt like it gave the youth of Snohomish County something positive to do Saturday nights during the winters.
Butch loved the outdoors. In his early years he liked to horseback ride, hunt, fish, dirt bike ride, and snowmobile with his friends and family. After retiring he started playing golf and reconnected with some high school friends and went on an annual fishing trip called "The Journey". He also loved a good poker game.
Butch had a good sense of humor and always liked a good joke. He also loved to listen to classic rock and blue grass music. Butch visited relatives often and talked about family history for hours with them. Butch also was very passionate about classic cars and going to car shows. He had a small collection of his own and belonged to "Thursday Night Garage Guys". But above all he had a special love for his family and close friends and would do anything to help them out…anytime.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife, Darleen. Children Chad (Selena), Jason (Carrie), Terrance. Grandchildren Karson (Shantae), Liberty, Tanner, Kendal, Trey, and 4 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Pat Scott, Janet (Terry) Czap, nephews David Scott, Ty Czap. Proceeded in death by his father Millard, mom Mary, brother-in-law George Scott, nephew Blair Scott, and niece Sabrina Czap. There will be a celebration of life ceremony August 15, 2021 at 1pm at Dairyland in Snohomish.

I only got to meet him during Chad and Selena's wedding, but Butch was very nice and shared delicious blackberries from his yard. I'm sorry for your loss and hope you enjoy fond memories of him today and always.

I took a job once a long time ago that led me to Washington. I had to find a place to rest during each week. What I found was the most awesome,
caring, kind and loving friendship. Butch and Darleen opened their house to me, fed me, became the best of friends you could have. I did not get to see him enough but always felt special when I did. Darleen, we love you guys and see you in August. Butch rest with our lord and savior. dennis and brenda.

Well Buddy this didn't work out like we planned. I miss you and think of you everyday. I thought we'd have another 100mph blast or two across the Nevada desert, or a few more Journey's, a bunch more golf, TNGA outings and just about everything we enjoyed together. You made an indelible mark in my life and I'm forever thankful you were my good friend. From the days of Jr. High to these last few days of your suffering you never lost your way or sense of humor, humility, candor and compassion. I love you man, you're the best. So many things you taught us, your care for others, at the drop of a hat you'd sacrifice what you were doing to go help someone else, the importance of staying in touch with those you loved, and the importance of the little things in life that most of us lose track of. In all my travels and experiences I have never met anyone who was more loved and respected by so many others. It was an amazing thing to watch and experience. Like the Holy Spirit Butch, your spirit will live on in all those you touched and that hold your friendship dear to their hearts. God Bless you my friend and someday we'll be back at it together. A huge thanks to Darlene and all of Butch's family. He is someone very special to all of us, especially me.
