Due to several circumstances I am not there to share in person, the memories of the life with my dad Monte Ness, so I am writing this in memory of him and to let you know mom, that I send my deepest thoughts and prayers to you in this time of mourning.
I 'd like to share some of the special times that I personally remember about my dad;
When I was younger I remember him telling me that I was "Daddy's Little Girl" and before he would leave for work he would give me a kiss on the cheek and tell me to be a good little helper to mommy, I remember pretending to shave with him, riding go-carts, snipe hunting, or at least he convinced us that was what we were hunting for, getting us bunnies, getting us a horse, putting in the big pool for us, teaching me how to drive, spoling me and finding and giving me the "Camaro with the round taillights", exactly the one that I wanted, and always telling you mom, that I was just going through another phase.
Dad always provided well for our family and I always admired that about him. he truly knew what work was and I value the fact that I picked up that quality and have passed that on to my children too as well.
Mom, you were the Love of Dads Life and I truly admire the commitment that you had to your husband through good, bad, and everything in between.
Although this past year has been most difficult, I know that dad would want us all to go through this "next phase" without any regrets.
I'm only a phone call away if you need anything at all, and I Love you with all of my heart.

Lots of Love, Hugs and Prayers,
Kandy

Papa Monte may of not always had much to say but he always had a smile on his face. Whenever we went to visit them they would come to Disney World with us. We'll never forget when papa Monte insisted on going on the "Rockin Roller Coaster". He was laughing and screaming the first half of the ride then he suddenly got quiet. So when the ride was over we asked him what had happened and he told us that his dentures almost fell out so he had to keep his mouth shut. We couldn't stop laughing about it the rest of the day! We will miss his smiling face and our sympathy goes out to you Grandma Betty. We love you both.

Bet and Family,

Our deepest sympathy goes out to you may you find comfort in one another. The last time that we saw Bet and Rocky together was a couple of years ago when Tom went and got Sonny,Bet,and Rocky from Daytona and we all went home to Augusta, I'll never forget that trip. It was nice to bring the brothers and sisters together. Take comfort in each other and know that you will always have loving memories to share with each other. Our prayers and love go out to you.

Thanks for retrieving my model airplane that I lost 6 months earlier. Dad and I left our place and headed south to go shopping at the B&M, ( 1961 )and dad spotted my airplane high up in your dad's tree, and you climbed up about a hundred feet to retrieve it. You held the plane out nose down and let go, and the plane pulled out of the dive and hit a bean pole in your garden and broke the wing. I still have the plane. Thanks to you and Herb for donating blood to my dad when he needed it. I often wonder when I now drive by where you moved to, and I miss the days of our dads chatting with each other at "Herb's Curb". Not too many Smokey Point residents left. My prayers to your family and loved ones, and say HI to you dad.

Monte loved to laugh. He loved to tease me with chips and dip; he would place them in front of me and tell me they were there in case I would want some and laugh to see that I couldn't leave them alone. He also seemed to love sauerkraut which I hated the smell of and he knew it, but he would just laugh while he sat down to enjoy it. I remember how he loved to ride his motorbike but had to cut the seat down enough so he could touch the ground. We had lots of fun on rides on the motorbikes to places he said he just "had to show us". We always ended up having a great time even when we got soaked in California. I'm so glad we were able to share that time together. I think that he loved the sunshine so much that that is why he wanted to live in Daytona Beach he loved it there. So I'm glad he got to live where he was happiest, but I'm only sorry it wasn't closer so we could see him and Betty more. To Betty my regret is that I am not there but please know I love you and want you to know Curt and I are here for you whatever you need.

When I think of Monte (Rocky-as I called him) I remember silly things, like when he got the hiccups and couldn't stop. He told us that peanut butter would make them go away, well one jar later the peanut butter was gone, but the hiccups were not. I think we was just hungry....My wish for his family is for them to keep fond memories like these in their hearts to replace the pain. All my love & prayers go out to them now and forever.

I will always remember Monte's laugh, it was infectious. He always saw the humor in almost every situation. He fought a good fight, but now he is finally at peace. My heart goes out to Betty (my sister), their children and grandchildren.
