Myra Wright Obituary

October 6, 1932 -

July 1, 2022 Myra Wright, Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed peacefully on July 1st, 2022. She was married to Derek, until his passing in 2011, for 59 years. She was born in 1932 in Manchester England and emigrated to the Seattle area with Derek and her 4 boys in 1967. Derek was stricken by a stroke in 1978, though Myra did not give up, and ended up traveling all over the world with him before his passing.

Myra and Derek were parents to 4 boys, David, Stuart, Bob and Ian. Ian predeceased her while working as a logger, though her first Grandchildren were born before his passing, Mathew Wright and Angela Wright, By Ian and their daughter in law Tina. Myra was always a true matriarch for us all, she kept the English traditions in the family through the Brittania Club events with many English friends that also emigrated to the US at the same time. She made sure her family in both the US and England kept in contact and was sure to always encourage travel to keep us all in touch. She was an excellent cook and baker and left us all with a love of British food.

She never let memories of the past be lost for her grandkids Matt and Angela, and later Nicholas, Nathan, Dylan and Eli. She always told them the best stories about family in the past and was the reason Matt and Angela knew about Ian, their dad. She took her grandkids and our disabled dad on adventures to the beach and mountains and camping, just as she and our dad had done with her sons. Adventures to the city on the bus to see a show or the sites were always on her agenda with the grandkids as well. She later became a Great grandmother to Ian and Tina's grandkids, Jared, Alexis and Annie.

No one had a bigger heart and she will always be remembered and live on within each of us.

Please join us for a small memorial on July 22nd at Kelsey Creek Park between 3pm and sunset.

Regents Park Chapter of DBE is saddened to know that Myra has left her family and this world without her sparkle. She was a valued member who brought
curiosity, her lovely smile and willing hands to our meetings and events. It was Myra who always asked the best questions and unfailingly supplied the Martinelli's cider and champagne flutes for our celebrations until she was no longer able to participate. (The photo below was taken at the Chapter Baby Shower honoring the birth of Prince William. Myra is on the right end of the back row.) We were priviledged to have known her and will raise a toast to her memory when we meet in August. May you find comfort in your good memories, and in knowing that there are others who remember her and mourn her passing with you.
