Nayda Wallace Obituary

Nayda Baird Wallace (née Nayda Gwen Baird) was born in Pasadena, California, on November 11, 1929. She is the daughter of teachers, predeceased by her parents, Earl and Merle Baird, and two sisters, Janet Telling and Ardys Soules. She married Vard Beecher Wallace Jr. in their teens, nearly seventy years ago (March 29, 1947). Nayda passed from this life to the next, on January 30, 2017, due to complications from congestive heart failure and pulmonary fibrosis. Nayda and Beecher lived in southern California, especially Newport Beach, until 1979. Both continued with school as long as they could until life interrupted. Nayda completed her junior year at UC Irvine when she was in her forties. After their children were out of the home, they moved north in 1979, living on a boat for six months before settling down. Beecher started a new business, Northwest Gears, in Everett, WA. When the company was sold in 1999, they enjoyed some fun years with an RV and lived for a time in Sun City, CA. Nayda is survived by her husband, Beecher; their three children: Vard ("Wally") (and his wife, Carol), Dan (and his wife, Pati), and Keri Marquand (and her ex-husband, Michael); eight grandchildren: Noah (and his wife, Jean), Dustin, Benjamin, Jamie (and her husband, David Condon), Michael Marquand Jr., Julia Marquand (and her husband, Rolando Avila), Andrew (and his wife, Danielle), and Zachary (and his wife, Samantha); and five great-granddaughters (Clariana, MacKenzie, Mara Jade, Sadie, and Livya). The most important thing in Nayda and Beecher's life has been the one permanent, eternal relationship that anyone can have. They know their Savior, Jesus Christ, who died and rose from the dead that he might free us from our bonds of sin and redeem us for himself. Nayda's greatest joy would be to see all of her family and friends come to faith in Christ. A celebration of Nayda's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at North Creek Presbyterian Church, 621 164th Street SE, Mill Creek, WA 98012. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Seattle's Union Gospel Mission (www.ugm.org) or Prison Fellowship: (www.prisonfellowship.org).

Beecher,

Many years ago, you & Nayda invited my late husband & me (Dick & Linda Born) to your home in Mukilteo. We truly enjoyed our visits & your friendship. Today I was surprised to find Nayda's obituary when I was reading The Orange County Register. I am sure Nayda is in a wonderful place now. May you & your family & friends find joy & peace in remembering Nayda. My most sincere condolences go out to you & your family.

Mom, the world is more impoverished because of your departure: your overabundance of personality, devotion to your children, constant prayers for us to embrace the Savior, ready laugh, incredible hospitality, imagination, and happy demeanor all made life that much sweeter. I look forward to seeing you in the new heavens and earth!

Mom, we'll be celebrating your life on February 27. I hope you're pleased with the ceremony because it exalts Jesus Christ above all--just as you did in your life. We will laugh and cry no doubt during the ceremony, but as Paul said "Let us not grieve as the rest do who have no hope." Grieve? Of course. But not like those who have no hope of the resurrection. Hundreds and hundreds of people have already expressed their condolences to my best teacher and only mom. I look forward to seeing you again in the resurrection.

I love you,
