Norman Wood Obituary

Norm was a friendly, generous man who worked hard to provide for his family. He loved flying his taildragger airplanes and making things from wood. He always had fruit trees, strawberries, and grapes growing in his yard and shared his harvests with many neighbors and deer. He was a blessing to many people, he will be missed and remembered fondly.

Norm grew up in Marysville, WA. He served two years in the US Navy, and worked in many capacities throughout his life. He was an operator with Local 302 and helped build the Alaska Pipeline. He also worked as a Pipefitter in Washington and Alaska for many years. Norm was a commercial fisherman in Cook Inlet, AK from 1959-2017 and he built his own fishing boat, the Sea Pacer, and several setnet style skiffs. He also had a Coast Guard Captain's license and operated tenders for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor (Mann) Wood, daughters Myra White, and Natalie Efird, and son, Norman Wood Jr., and sister Carol Mason, also nephews, nieces, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren; Kayla (Vivienne, Xander), Thomas, and Noah. He was proceeded in death by his father, Ed Wood, mother, Nerys Halverson, step-father Clem Halverson, and brothers, Ed (Buzz) Wood, Kenneth Wood, and Gordon Wood.
