Patricia Loop Obituary

Patricia Loop

Patricia Loop, 78, Patricia Loop passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011. She was born July 14, 1932 in San Pedro, CA, daughter of Norman and Ida Keck. Pat attended high school at Auburn Adventist Academy in Auburn, WA, and graduated in 1950. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Walla Walla College. After graduating, Pat taught at Glendale Adventist Academy in California. In 1961 she married Merlin Loop. After leaving Glendale the Loops moved to Aloha, Oregon where she taught alongside her husband from 1971 to 1994 at Tualatin Valley Junior Academy in Hillsboro, OR. Retirement brought Pat and Merlin to Tucson, AZ to be with their fellow "snowbirds" and closer to family. Merlin passed away in 2004. He and Pat enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Pat recently made the move to Murrieta, CA in 2009. Pat had many friends that she kept up with them via email and Facebook. If you needed to know who, what, where, Pat was the one to call. She was known for her "20 questions" because, "How else do you find out?" She was upbeat, nurturing and kind. Her greatest joy was her son, Doug, whom she and Merlin adopted at 3 days old. Doug was blessed with wonderful parents. When grandchildren came along they moved to the top of the list. The running joke with friends was that each had the smartest and most beautiful grandchildren. According to Pat, her's were both. Pat Loop will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandma, sister, friend and teacher.
Pat is survived by her son, Douglas M. Loop and his wife, Cathy, of Wildomar, CA; grandchildren, Lauren and Adam Loop, Jeremee Berube, of Riverside, CA, and Joshua Berube, of Beaumont, CA; brother, Norm Keck, of Everett, WA; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Calista and Jacob; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends; and her students. Especially close to Pat were lifelong friends, the Jones' and Bergers'.
Pat loved the Lord and rested in the knowledge of Christ's soon return where we will be united once again.
A Celebration of Life was held on February 5, 2011.
Pat devoted 35 years of her life in dedication to Christian education. Having done so, the family is requesting any donations be made to the Murrieta Springs Adventist Christian Academy Library, 32477 Starbuck Cr., Murrieta, CA, 92562. Office phone number 951-461-2243.

It is impossible not to smile when thinking about "The Loops!" They are the most authentic people I've ever known and the world - especially TVJA - was a better place because of them. Love you Pat (and Merlin too)!

I miss Pat so much every day. We had such good times over many, many years.

Of my 5 aunts, Aunt Pat was my favorite. I loved that she spoke her mind. I'll miss you Aunt Pat. Rest in peace.

Pat and Merlin will always be together
in my mind.I always enjoyed passing Pat's
class room. She was always doing something special for her class. Always
a smile on her face. Even at the close
of her life her attitude was beautiful.

Always a smile; that's how I remember Mrs. Loop. My son was one of her students and I had the pleasure of working with Pat at TVJA.

I remember Pat & Merlin at TVJA every day when my children attended in the '70s. They were a couple who believed in Christian education and I was proud to call them my friends.

I remember your mother standing at the top of the stairs as you enter TVJA greeting everyone as they come in. I don't remember a day she wasn't standing there. She will be missed greatly.
