Raymond Sparlin Obituary
Raymond Robert Sparlin
Bob, as he was known to his friends, attended schools in Marysville then after graduation joined the Army in 1943 for a two year tour. After serving in the Army, Bob went on to study and graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in Forestry. He was later employed by the City of Everett as a civil engineer in the Water Department. Sometime later, he transferred to the Finance department in City Hall for the last 11 years of his almost 30 year's employment with the City of Everett.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, tennis, hiking, golf and traveling. He was also active in Amateur Radio, with a call sign of WB7AIV. His favorite activities in Amateur Radio were CW (Morse code) and chasing "DX", stations in other countries. Bob was a member of the Ten-Ten International club, the Cascade Radio Club (where he served as treasurer) the HAMS club, and the American Radio Relay League. He was also a charter member of the Mun-E-Men Toastmaster Club and received his Able Toastmaster Award.
He is survived by his son, Kerry.
Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 2301 Hoyt Avenue, Everett, WA 98201.
A Memorial Service will be held beginning at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Everett.
Arrangements are being made under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203.

Kerry, The loss of a father is hard and my heart goes out to you. My dad just turned 98. I remember your dad well and all the great conversations we had at mushroom meetings as well as at forays. He contributed so much to the club.
