Raymond Dale Withrow

1932 - 2017

Raymond Dale Withrow, 85, passed away in Wenatchee, WA, on July 6, 2017. Ray was born May 15, 1932, to Everett and Evelyn Withrow at Purple Pennant Park, Lake Stevens, WA. Ray grew up in Lake Stevens and attended Lake Stevens schools. In 1950, Ray joined the US Navy where he served two tours of duty overseas during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Ray spent 31 years with the US Postal Service starting at the main Everett Post Office then moving to the Lake Stevens Post Office as a clerk and retiring as a rural carrier. In 1987 Ray moved from Lake Stevens to the Plain/Lake Wenatchee area and in 2002 moved into Wenatchee. Ray was an avid golfer and proudly claimed 3 hole-in-one trophies and at the age of 83, he shot an 80. He played in many Pro-Am tournaments where he won several awards. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Leavenworth Golf Club where he was a long time member. Ray loved traveling and took cruises to Alaska, Mexico, Mediterranean Sea and the Panama Canal. Some of his favorite trips were to Italy, Japan, and China where he climbed the Great Wall and visited the Forbidden City. He enjoyed snowmobiling, cross country skiing and working in his wood shop. Ray was a master craftsman and loved making all kinds of projects in his workshop for family and friends: furniture, crafts, music boxes, intricate ornaments - you name it; there wasn't anything Ray couldn't make out of wood. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Evelyn, sister, Bernice and brothers, Leonard and Donald. Ray leaves behind his children: Patricia Withrow, Catherine (Withrow) Russell and Thomas Withrow; grandchildren, Jason (Alicia) Russell, Eric (Lettie) Russell, Sarah (Andy Ortiz) Withrow, Nichole Withrow, and Thomas Withrow; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Axton, Abel, Lainey and Lucas. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at New Life Center, 6830 Highland Drive, Everett, WA 98203. There will be a time for remembering Ray and visiting with the family following the service.
