Rex Willard Fenton passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2021. Rex was born on December 21, 1955 in St. Charles, Missouri, to Leroy and Kathryn Fenton. His family moved to Washington in 1957. He lived in Marysville his entire life, graduating from Pilchuck High School in 1975. He grew up hunting, fishing, and camping and loved the outdoors. He worked as a master carpenter for a residential builder and at Ameron, where he retired after 20 years. Rex was an avid gardener and an expert at canning, pickling, and freezing his harvests. He was proud to have gotten his family's 1954 Ford restored and then delighted his mother by picking her up and taking her on a drive through Marysville. In recent years, Rex was a very devoted and loving caregiver for his mother.
Rex is survived by his mother, Kathryn; brothers, Rick and Randie (Donna); and nephews/nieces, Nathan, Amanda, David, and Laura. He was very close to his cousins, aunts, and uncles, as well as many friends and neighbors. He will be missed by all. Rex's father, Leroy, preceded him in death.
There will be no formal service. The family will be gathering for a private memorial. Donations in his memory may be given to Seattle Children's and St. Jude's Hospitals.

Seeing you, fishing in heaven...it'd be nice to hear from Rick or Randy...

In my heart I new this day would come! Sadly, many years to soon. I'm not able to share all that is on my heart, this method of communicating is so foreign to me, like my friend Rex, last of the hold-outs. My heart is so heavy, for momma Kate, Rick and Randy and all the family selfishly for myself too. Gone is a man who has always been there with and for me and my family, since the 4th grade, Cascade elem. By letters, phone or in person, we kept in touch. I still recall His landline #! He always returned my calls regardless of which state I was residing at, time of year whatever, He always called me back! He checked in with me about 30% of the times that we talked- really blessed my heart to eventually hear from Him. Happy sad mad glad or just lonely we kept in touch. Never have I known a man with such high degree of integrity and honesty, loyal to His commitments. A wealth of recall, dates and times, amazing! Cheerful in all weathers. I don't know what to say from here? So much to share! I'll just say this: Gone is my best friend, gone is a large part of my life, another chunk of my heart ripped out, I'll do my best to carry on proudly, having the had the best friend a man could have. Memories and photos are all there is now, thank you Rex for being my friend. Pray The Good Lord has you in His arms, comfort and Love. May You Rex, rest in the Peace and Love that only He can freely give, for you so deserve it! I so Loved this true Man........my other brother, Tim Ekholm

Rex was such a kind soul. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. This world has lost one of the good ones. My condolences to his family and friends.
