Richard (Rick) C. Shirey, 68, passed away on Nov. 15, 2020 after a short battle with melanoma.
Rick was born on July 8, 1952 in Seattle. He worked at Boeing for the last several years but he was really a jack of all trades. He seemed to have knowledge about everything.
Rick had a soft spot for Ford Mustangs and took great pride rebuilding and restoring them. Always the competitor, there was something about being behind a car that brought out the race car driver in him and he'd have to pass it. Many times as a passenger, it seemed best to look out the side window rather than straight ahead while anticipating the crash that fortunately didn't happen. He was a good driver, but definitely a fast one.
Rick loved making people laugh through his gift of storytelling. If you ever spent any time around him, you surely heard at least one of his tales.
He will be missed.

I knew Rick several years ago when AOL was a thing. I was a `wrong number´ and we struck up an almost daily online friendship. (Never a relationship...just pals) He took me crabbing and that was a blast. Later, He came to my wedding and , as he was so generous, I still have a beautiful Waterford vase that he presented.
I lost touch as people do but he was quite a significant friend to me for a very special time.

Rick, you will be sorely missed, and never forgotten! From the time you first asked me to ‘go steady’ (I was 13, you 14) our paths crossed, intertwined, diverged and crossed time and time again. Your Gift of Gab and witty repartee kept us all nailed to our seats, waiting for your next line. Even with less than 2 months left battling ‘The Big C’, you found a way to laugh and bring hope. Your come-back spirit lifted us all - you knew no bounds. Thank you for all the good years and good times with me & my family. We will see you again, ol’ buddy, in the Happy Hunting Ground!
