Terry Crunkilton Obituary

Terry Jill "TJ" Crunkilton, 80, formerly of Mukilteo, passed away on October 15, 2021 in Bend, Oregon after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Her beloved husband and devoted caregiver, Bob Crunkilton, was by her side, along with her devoted dog, Ginger.

Born July 8, 1941 in Westerville, Ohio, Terry attended the Ohio State University and graduated with degrees in French and Education in 1963. It was here that she met and married her first husband, Robert Wells.

She earned a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan. In the Ohio State - Michigan game each year, she would root for whichever team was winning, which meant changing allegiances several times per game and wearing both teams' colors.

She spent many years in the Washington, DC, area and raised her family there, while working in adult education and training, most notably as a Program Coordinator with the Graduate School, USDA.

After divorcing and eventually leaving the Washington, DC, area, she reconnected with a longtime family friend, Bob Crunkilton, who proved ultimately to be her soulmate. They were married on January 17, 1998 and lived many happy years together in Mukilteo; Bandon, Oregon; Hood River, Oregon; and Bend, Oregon.

Terry was a member of Unity congregation and found great peace in nature. She was most happy running a bookstore with Bob, speaking French, drinking green tea smoothies, and laughing until she cried with her family, who visited often. She and Bob enjoyed traveling throughout the American west and also in Europe. Particular favorites were France and Switzerland.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Lewis Mishey (1983) and June Iona Leathers Mishey (1998), as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband Robert Crunkilton, daughter Andrea Wells-Edwards (Paul), son Robert Wells II (Kim), and stepsons Jeff Crunkilton (Susan McFarlin) and Greg Crunkilton (Janis).

Terry was also proud Grandma to Abbey Wells, Bryn Wells-Edwards, Rowan Wells-Edwards, Teagan Wells, Rhys Wells-Edwards, Ian Crunkilton, Olivia Wells, Pierce Crunkilton, Silas Wells-Edwards, Liam Crunkilton, Dylan Crunkilton, and Silvia Crunkilton.

A memorial service is planned for next summer, with details to follow. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
