Thomas Borgford Obituary

Tom was born in Seattle, Wash. on February 23, 1928 and passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 after a brief illness. Tom grew up in the greater Seattle area. He graduated from Edmonds High School, and after graduation served in the US Navy. He then enrolled at Everett Junior College, where he met the love of his life, Judy Kratzberg. They married on December 22, 1951. Tom attended the University of Miami and University of Washington where he majored in journalism and wrote for the UW Daily. In 1954 Tom began his career at the Everett Herald. Tom left the Herald in 1976 and began a second career in public relations for GTE. He retired in 1996. A life long member of Immaculate Conception Church, he served on the parish council for a number of years. Tom believed deeply in the importance of giving back to his community. He was involved with many charitable organizations including the United Way, the Red Cross, Providence Hospital, the Boy Scouts and the Everett Public Schools Foundation. He also was a member of the Everett Park Board for many years, and was a freeholder for the city of Everett. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; parents, Ruth and Marsh Hussey; his brother, Dean, and his sister Gerry. He is survived by his children, Tom (Kelly), Kathy (Scott), Tim (Carol), and Theresa (Greg); his grandchildren Derryck, Courtney (Jonathon), James (Kelli), Anthony, Brittney, Anna, Sarah, Robert, Mikayla, Jonathon and Rudy; his sisters, Marie (Wayne) and JoAnn (Jerry), and his brother Gene (Lois). Donations in Tom's name may be made to the Red Cross or the Everett Public Schools Foundation. Tom would want you to listen to the music you love, have a martini, and remember him.

One of the good guys. Tom was a wonderful coworker! I will remember his respect for deadlines; his no nonsense approach to fGTE public relations and his fun smile always.

To Kathy and Family:
I always enjoyed your Dad's writing and admired his integrity.
He raised some well-balanced kids, too!

Tom was a great gentleman to know and as the Grandfather of four of my grandchildren also, I feel privileged to have known him. May he rest in honored peace with those he loved.

Tom was a one of a kind person and a joy to be around. His and your mother's graciousness, goodness and sense of humor will long be fondly remembered.

I am sorry for this deep personal loss your family bears, but his legacy lives on through all of you. May you find comfort in your memories of him.
